I too would like to be able to cease this.
    Super annoying it shuts off.
My wife’s Pilot and my buddies F150 both stay running when they jump in.

You can't. It's really not hard to just push a button though.

May have already been answered but why is it setup to shut off once you open the door?

Yea after a week I was over it. Our 4Runner does that same. My only concern really is premature failure of the starter, but both vehicles have the extended Toyota care warranty. I haven’t heard of any way to bypass it.

It's probably in case somebody tries to steal the vehicle it will not start without the fob so it shuts off when you open the door

No but sure doesn’t make any sense that it shuts off given most people are using remote start to warm up the vehicle and drive away and are not shutting it off after warming it up.
Not to mention using the starter twice as much as necessary.
I do not see the logic either

Mine is hit and miss beyond ~40 feet and if you factor in if you are triggering it through metal clad walls, windows, doors or other type walls it’s really hit and miss. I also find the whole, hit the button three times, hit and miss too. Tacoma remote start definitely needs some work.
My wife’s pilot only requires 1 long press of the button and never misses a beat when toggling the remote start and I swear the range is at least twice as far as our Tacoma.

Blackout package - planned: black bed logos, black wheel vinyls, front seat window tint, tires.
But, you still have to push the brake and hit the start button on the pilot, or it shuts off. I also don't understand people worried about the starter...when was the last time you've heard of a starter going bad on a modern vehicle?

    It is an anti-theft feature.

I had to replace the starter on my VW diesel after 10 years and 330,XXX+ miles. That is the first starter I have replaced since we had a 1983 Chevy Cavalier and the first one was replaced under warranty. I replaced two more times before I sold the car.

I don't really think it shutting off and having to restart it is going to make much difference in the long run.

At least it has one. My Audi that costs twice as much doesn't even have the option from the factory.

I've replaced two starters. Both on vehicles over 280,000km. Not a big deal.

There are a ton of vehicles out there equipped with auto start/stop. While it likely does wear the starter faster it seems to, mostly, be a non issue.

It doesn't wear out your starter. On vehicles with an autostart that doesn't shut off you still have to get in the car and push the start button/put in the key and hit the brake. That's quite literally the exact amount of effort required to start the engine anyway.

How is it an anti-theft feature? Do you think other cars that don't turn off if you can get in you can just drive away?

OP I'm with you on this. It bothers me more than it should... not enough to not use it but enough to bitch about it on the internet. :)

Don't buy this either. If that was the case you could just break the window and drive away? The car should stay running and die only if you hit the brake or take it out of gear without the key present. The computer knows all three of these things with no extra sensors than it already has. It's just poor design.
