Remote start

I'm with you on all of this. It just doesn't make sense to me. I still use it, just not as often as I would.

To everyone talking about vehicles with auto start/stop features, they use a completely separate starter for that feature. One that has been engineered and tested to function for many cycles more than a traditional starter.

Vehicles that stay running when the door is opened still need to see or sense the FOBIK. They can only be driven away after you press the start button after entering vehicle with the FOBIK present. If the FOBIK is not present when you press the start button after entering the vehicle it will not go in actual run mode.

The remote range on my remote sucks. It purchased the smartphone start module and it is awesome. It even has GPS location map. I have a 12 VOLT SOLUTIONS remote start kit with the CAR LINK Smartphone module. All plug and play.

 

I have no evidence either way as to whether or not the starter on a vehicle with remote start has a heavier duty starter or not but on the surface that would seem to be just a bit far fetched. Could you provide a link that confirms that to be true. I'm interested because my wife's Lexus has remote start and it also shuts off when you enter the vehicle. It's quite annoying and the thought of starter problems due to unneeded usage crossed my mind, as well.

Please note that I said 'vehicles with auto start/stop features', not vehicles with remote start features. I agree that vehicles with remote start features do not come equipped with heavier duty starters.

Vehicles with remote start features mean that they can be turned on via remote or signal from a distance away from the vehicle.

Vehicles with Auto Start/Stop features mean that they turn themselves off and then back on again, automatically, while they are 'running' while sitting at stop lights, waiting at train tracks, or sitting in a parking lot.

Two different cases, and the latter most certainly has a different starter than the former.

Not all vehicle use a separate starter for auto start/stop. Most use one heavy starter and in the case of some Chrysler FCA vehicles, they use the e-torque system. A battery starter module which is incorporated into the serpentine belt system. Yeah, over engineering at its finest.

 

My 2019 Jeep Sahara does not have e-torque, but does have start/stop and 2 batteries (Primary and Auxiliary).

 

Yup, Have fun getting to the aux battery under the primary battery.

 

Germany is quite tight regarding remote starts.

 

Yep. That's why I keep a spare vehicle (My 21 Tacoma)

 

It has nothing to do with anti theft. The keys have a proximity if you get in and try to move the vehicle without the key within proximity it will not drive away.

So your saying my starter in my 2019 off road has a starter setup for that

No. Your Tacoma does not have an Auto Start/Stop feature.
