I am having issues installing a Compustar 7900ASS remote starter with blade AL on a 2010 Tacoma DCLB. The remote starter cranks but won’t start, unless I put the key in the ignition. The rest of the alarm works. I know that it is an immobilizer issue, I have flashed the blade with the proper firmware, but when installing it in the truck, I get no lights on the blade at all, red or blue.
I factory reset the blade, AL, and it flashes red upon completion. But then I don’t get any more lights so I can’t get it to program to my truck.
The Blade harness only has 4 wires to connect: Ground, Keysense, Immobilizer TX and Immobilizer RX. I connected wires directly at the ignition. Still nothing.
Thinking the Blade unit may be defective, I ordered a second Blade AL and 7900AS system. I still can’t program it to the truck and the remote cranks without starting.
Is there something I am missing?

    Sounds like wiring issue.

How exactly did you wire this up? 7 pin connector: pin 4 (code) to green/red, pin 5 (txct) to gray red. 2 pin connector pin 2 (keysense) white/black. Ground to white wire. Note some wire colors vary from unit to unit.

That is how I attempted to wire it, the keyword is attempted. I am going back right now to verify that I didn’t screw up.

So, after undoing the wiring harness and tracing back all the wires, I found out that i had gray red connected to “not” pin 5. I tried not to connect the wires to close to the ignition switch, so when I traced pin 5 down the steering column I got it mixed up with another wire. Rookie mistake. I could have blown up my whole car.. I was so sure that I had the correct wires. Your response is what caused me to check myself. Thanks for helping.
