Looking to get a remote starter for the new rig.

Was wondering if someone could tell me how that works with the prox key..

When I get close to my truck and put my hand in the handle, it unlocks. Will my truck still be able to do this?

Do I still need to carry around the Toyota key fob for that to work?

Proximity sensors have nothing to do with remote start kits. Everything works the same as it did before, the engine will just turn off when the vehicle is opened.

There are other (better?) options that KB VooDoo, hence my link.

I see what you mean. I was thinking of getting a system (Compustar) that would replace the key fob.

I believe the sensor is in the key fob itself, so.. not sure about that particular setup. Some people have butchered their OEM fobs to get the sensors into another location, but that seems pretty drastic IMO.

Maybe email/call Compustar and see if they have a solution for that issue.

    Yes and yes.

Our starter utilizes the factory fob.
