    Reposting in 3rd gen Tacomas:

I’ve been thinking about getting a remote start for my truck. I’ve got a 2017 Tacoma off road which does have a push button start. I've tried hitting the lock button three times and that's not a thing on my truck. I’ve heard some concerns of after market remote starts draining your battery or messing with other electronic things, does anyone have any experience with this or have a good brand they recommend? Also does anyone know if Toyota will install remote starts and provide any type of warranty? TIA

Did you try holding down the button on the 3rd press? My truck had remote start in it but wasn’t told it was installed when I got the truck..I got the dronemobile remote starter kit installed from bestbuy and I like it, yearly prices are pretty good it has app control as well Shows temps in truck etc.

Have any of you noticed any issues with the range of the remote starts? Will it work anywhere your fob reaches?

    Yes, based on fob range.
With that said, the fob range is poor, even with a fresh battery.
If you want to start from a distance, get one with a cell app.

I honestly use the mobile app on my phone or smart watch to start the truck. Mostly from my Apple Watch for the most part..I rarely use the key fob. Look up DroneMobile or stop by bestbuy if your near one

The N2 uses your factory remote. Or, they sell a longer range remote as an option. Or the cellphone option at additional expense.
I've had the N2 installed in my 2017 for the past 2-3 years. Works fine. But if you get one, get the new updated version that keeps the engine running when you open the door.

Want longer range, use your tongue on your remote.

OK, I'm not condoning sticking anything in your mouth, dirty like that but has saved my bacon a few times in LARGE parking lots.

That’s convenient. Always hated how it shut off when I opened the door. Pretty much defeated the purpose of it
