So I just ran into the first issue with my remote starter, a Viper 5706. We just got a huge temp drop and some snow in the northeast yesterday, but my auto-starter worked fine in the morning, push the button, wait for the 2 way, hear the truck start ('12 DCSB 4x4).

When I was at work, I went to start it up, pushed the button, and got a remote start error. So I went outside and hit the button again, and I could hear the truck starter crank, but it wouldnt turn. It did this 3x, and then the remote set off the same alarm and displayed remote start error. When I got in the truck and cranked it with the key, took a few seconds and pumped the gas pedal a couple times, and got it to turn on.

This morning, ran into the same problem with the remote starter. Key turned it right on though. So I drove to Autozone and they tested the battery and said it was dead. Replaced it, and when I hit the auto starter again, same error came up. So I just turned the truck with the key and drove to work.

I am not sure if its just because of the new battery not having a chance to fully charge. Just tried the remote starter again and noticed something different. During normal remote start, my DTRL's and parking lights come on, then the engine starts up. Now the DTRL's and parking lights stay off....

    Any input appreciated.

Every once in a while my Viper won't start - it'll crank, but not start. I press the start button twice again to shut it off and try again. It usually starts up the second time.

I think it might be a problem with the security chip simulator, but it doesn't happen often enough that it's worth taking it back to the installer to try and fix it.
