Just installed the Pop & Lock. Easy install. Follow instructions on Youtube. Wire to the driver side to unlock with one click on your remote, wire to passenger to unlock with double click on remote. Definitely recommend it. Oh and double check the model numbers. The newer ones have plug and play harnesses that make it extra easy.

Installed the pop n lock on my truck, should have done this mod 1st. Took me less then an hour. It took longest to run the wires cleanly than installing the actual mechanism

Another thumbs up for the OEM. Hardly any effort to install, so definitely worth it. Took me less than an hour to install mine in the driveway earlier this year. Nothing special needed, although a creeper would make the process even more painless when your under the vehicle. I did mine without.

I went with pop n lock mainly because of price. Believe it or not I like the loud sound of the lock at least I know by sound it is working.

I can confirm, picked up the OEM unit from Toyota yesterday. $165 installed today about 45 minutes, hardest part was cable tying the cable under the truck which is still pretty easy

At the time I got mine, the PopNLock WAS what the dealer was installing, and I am not sure that what they are installing now is or is not the PopNLock! But in any case, yes, in 2018 and 2019, if you wanted to install this, Toyota had their own part# for it but when you received it, it actually came in a PopNLock box but with the toyota part number on it! Look at the thumbnail for my video, and you will see, it is a PopNLock box, but the Toyota part# is right there! In fact, when I ordered mine, it was not even an option here on the west coast, but a special option only available at the time, to dealers in the Southeastern US Toyota zone. I ordered mine from a dealer in NC, as I had a friend there and I wanted him to get some credit. And like others here, I just paid my local mechanic an hour's labor to install it for me. But installing this was a good thing, as using that stupid key in the fob is a pain in the butt for me, as I keep my fob wrapped in plastic to protect it. yeah I know, if the battery goes down and I am not at home, then I will have to take the key out in order to open the door and then use the fob to start the engine, but I am ok with that.

Is there a cheaper alternative to this sealant? Don't mind spending a few extra bucks but $35 for this sealant seems like alot.

    3M Ultrapro Autobody Sealant, 08302, Clear Color, High-Solids, Heavy-Bodied, Fast-Curing, Solvent-Based, 5 oz Tube

Ordered the OEM Tailgate Remote Lock and OEM Bed Lights. Plan to install together.

I installed a tailgate lock for like $20. 15 feet of braided loom, some left-over aluminum ducting tape, a spool of 16 gauge wire I had laying around, an actuator from an old project, some wire taps and some heat-shrink.

Run the new wires through the tailgate camera harness, add a quick disconnect for the 2 new wires. Loom it. Zip tie it. Metal zip ties near exhaust.

Routing the harness from the tailgate to the cab was the worst part. That is something you'd have to do with the OEM kit anyways.

It wasn't hard and saved me over $200 CAD.

I am curious for those that have installed the OEM kit, does the actuator just add on to the mechanism or replace it? In other words, can you still manually lock/unclock with the key if you had to? Thanks in advance and for the other info here - I definitely want to add this at some point

OEM or aftermarket, the key still functions. Just like your driver door. The power lock functions or the key functions.

I have a 2022 SR 4cyl. Reading through the installation manual for PK3B6-34JS0 it mentions conflict with the bed lighting kit. Wonder what it is? I just installed the bed lights and it works great, I love it. Anyone have information on that or any difficulty?

I'm another that did the OEM remote lock. The only thing I'll add is that when routing the cable through the tailgate, if you remove your tailgate and place it on something flat behind the truck, you can straighten the feedthrough cables (lock and camara) to make installation of the feed though plastic bushings/gromets much easier.

R4T version is quiet. I've got this one installed, no sound deadening material needed.
