I took a few small pieces of leftover Dynamat and placed them inside the tailgate to mute some of the resonance . It still “clicks” but doesn’t “Claaank”.

I have the Toyota OEM kit, very quiet compared to the PopnLock brand we had in the old 2015 Tacoma. I put foam insulation in mine and you can barely hear it.

    2022 - SR5, DCSB.

I just placed an order at my local Toyota Dealership for the part: PK3B6-35JS0, and I provided my VIN with the sale. Well, they just called saying that this part does NOT fit the '22, and then they stated that the part # that does is: 00016-34355.

I searched that number and a similar part showed up on Sparks Parts (https://www.sparksparts.com/p-tailgate-power-lock-0001634351) and looking at this install PDF for that part # (http://toyotaparts.sparkstoyota.com/install/00016-34351-taco21.pdf) the difference in the 51 & 55 could be the remote key-less entry (with the 51 for trucks WITHOUT). Big difference I see so far compared with the PK part is that it runs up the Driver's side.

I will have it tomorrow with a possible install happening this weekend. I'll get a copy of the instructions from the dealer also. I can report back how it goes!

For anyone installing the factory kit, there is a guy needing the plastic pieces that holds the camera wire in place. The kit provides two more clips and says discard the ones for a single wire. If you have some, help him out.

I just installed mine the other day but threw away the clips. The kit is nice and takes an hour or so to install. Very nice setup and works great.

So far I have done 3, first was a popnlock, the second was the OEM one, and the third was from runnin for Tacos, you can actually just melt a hole with a soldering iron for the cable if you don't have the kit...all were the same, plug n play, it seems that some come with additional inline fuses and some don't.

I got my OEM tailgate lock on ebay for $135 shipped with taxes. Works great.
