Remote wire. 1 for 2?

Hello all. Installing 2 amps. Do I need 2 remote wires or connect another remote wire off the first? Also I'm assuming with 2 amps, I would need 2 RCA cables. Is there a connection or connections off the factory stereo? I also purchased scosche car stereo connector, would that assist me in installing the remote wire? Pardon my ignorance. You can run them both off of one.

The factory radio has no line-level connections for an amp.
You can either run the high-level inputs into the amp, or, and what most here would suggest, replace the HU with a nice aftermarket unit.

 

Thanks rich for the reply. Do you have any suggestions for a line level converter for the amps at a decent price? One amp is 4 channels and the other is 2. I've seen a few on Amazon for approx 10.00 but not sure if that's what I would need. Thank you

 

I doubt you'll have any issues, but if you ever *did* you could run the one wire for the remote in to a standard auto relay, then the two wires off the relay, of course the relay being fed 12V constant. But I personally would just run one wire off the headunit remote and split it to two amps.

 

Do the amps not have high level inputs?

Ya... or just diode-isolate the amps. Easy enough to do and avoids the complexity of the relay.

 

Diode isolating would not do any good for the remote on the amps. Running two amps off the same source for the remote is fine though as long as you don't tie into any circuits that cannot handle much current. I would also avoid using high level inputs if your amps have them and just buy some loc's to get rca signal. If you're hooking up a 4 channel and a sub amp you would need three loc's. The one's I have used and installed the most of is pac sni-35. They are cheap and easy to wire. I have never had an issue with one and I have installed a ton of them. You would get a lot more from the system though if you did install an aftermarket deck with three preouts for front rear and sub.
