Let me know if I should repost this to another section of the site. I'd like to store my fridge in the bed, under my tonneau cover. I could just strap it down and slide it in and out but I'm thinking the more secure way is with some type of slide. However, I use my truck for more than camping so whatever method, I want to be able to be able to remove it when it's not in use relatively easily would be nice. It does currently fit in my backseat, which is ok but I'd really rather have it in the bed.

So, has anyone come up with some type of system that is efficient to put in/remove for trips and secure? Even if you havent, ideas are welcomed. FWIW, I have bed stiffeners for added versatility/strap/bolt options.

I just had the same dilemma the other day. After some brainstorming, I decided a good solution would be to purchase a header rail utility track from a 2nd Gen, cut it in half and bolt the two sections through the bottom of the bed and then attach the fridge slide to the tracks with t-nuts. When I want to remove the fridge and slide, I would remove fridge, loosen bolts that are in t-nuts and simply slide the slide out of the bed, leaving the track in place.

This works in my head, but I haven’t installed it yet! Header rail just arrived.

Keep me posted. Your idea sounds much more streamlined. Did you think about using the smaller unistrut?

I'm thinking of utilizing my bed stiffener and side rail. Basically cut two pieces of ply and butt joint them at a 90. Then have a couple kick offs to the rail and a front "face" that'll bolt into the stiffener.

I did think about unistrut, but had/have extra t-nuts and bolts laying around that I knew I could utilize in the Tacoma track.

The stock t-slot channel you plan to use is much thicker than the recess of the corrugated lines in the bed, so it's going to be sticking up above the highest point in the bed floor. Perfect to catch cargo on when "using the truck as a truck".

Most people solve the problem by using L-Track instead. It sits lower than the high point of the floor so you won't constantly be catching things on it sliding cargo in and out of the bed.

You could even just do tie down points instead of a longer rail.

And for the header rail that just arrived, just remove the bolts that are already in the front of your bed and bolt it in. It's more useful there at the front of your bed than chopped up.

I just leave the slide in all the time. Fridge gets strapped down to it when it use. Otherwise it sits in my dining room as a backup fridge, ha. The slide hasn't been a problem when I use my truck like a truck. The rack is more of an issue. But I have the tonneau brackets and a hoist in my garage so I can take it off when I need to. Just helped a buddy move a couch over the weekend with no problems.

Hi, how was the slide held up? Any damage to the bed from offroading?

Unfortunately I took that out a long time ago. Only because I got a bigger fridge. So I can't comment on any damage.
