xpipe is the way to go mixes both banks so it sounds like a six cylinder instead of two three cylinders.

Other guys on another form said back pressure doesn't effect efi engines and the URD o2 simulator is for the back o2 sensor and it just tells the engine the cat is working correctly. The front one tells the engine the air/ fuel mix.

Removing the cat will gain you zero performance.

Cats ofer very very little restriction these days, unless they're damaged.

That's true. I was at the muffler shop today and got an opportunity to look inside my cat. It's just a really fine straight through grid. The cat is way larger in diameter than the pipe to account for the space that the grid takes up. After seeing that, I don't believe they offer any flow resistance at all.

Have any of you that removed your cat checked to see if the cat was clogged up. My 3.4 doesn't have much power so I thought the cat might be clogged and restricting the exhaust.

If you're not turbo/SC, the gain from removing cats is maybe minimal.

Every accessories, bend, elbow, valves, name it, create a pressure loss (compare to a strait section of pipe) proportional to the flow speed.

One thing i can say for sure, after changing my Y-pipe for a decated one, i had to change my fuel pump cause i was not able to maintain AFR. I was already SC with DTLT headers and 2.85 pulley.

I dont really know much about this but I'm wanting to do something with my exhaust soon. if you downsized your pipe after the cats then throughout the system would that help in keeping the back pressure up enough to keep low end power?

this. i have long tubes and a y pipe (OBX, a replica of doug thorley) and my low end sucks now. top end rips but im seriously debating on putting some shorty headers on (which i had on my previous tacoma) and it had much better pep and low end.

What he said. You are not going to see positive gains unless you have forced induction.
