My brother wants to lower the rear of his 06 to level it. Any experience, good or bad, from doing this? He isn't concerned about payload, only how much one leaf might lower it.
    Thanks

Well, when I was looking at add-a-leaf's yesterday to lift my truck with, the company I was ordering from stated that a one leaf AAL (on both sides obviously) would raise the rear about 2", so taking one off would lower it by that much I would assume :notsure:

How much higher is the back end sitting than the front? May just be easier to put in small spacer plates in the front to bring it level with the rear if it isn't that much of a difference.

Do you know how many leafs are in the pack now? if it has the over load that gets you about .5". If you were to remove a spring I would guess 1.5 to 2" based on playing with other projects. Leaf packs are not complicated if you dont like it, easy to put back.

Just put in a longer shackle. You'll lower the truck almost exactly the extra length of the new shackle.

What leafs does it have in the rear? If it is the stock 2+overload I would not remove a leaf. Those springs are notorious for breaking already.

yeah raise the front, or use a longer shackle in the rear.... the stock springs are already shitty enough... dont pull leafs out.

If he has factory/original rear leaf springs the last thing you want to do is make them weaker by removing a leaf. The factory rear leaf springs on Tacomas are horrible and notorious for sagging over time anyhow.

I keep hearing this, and applied to both the 3-leaf US version, and the 4-leaf CAN version. Frankly, it takes WAY more than the payload capacity to get this thing sitting on the bump stops, and after several years now, my all original 4-leaf is still sitting nice and tall in the back. I wonder if they could have had different suppliers?

Canadian 4 leaf? As in 4 leafs plus overload?

The truck should never sit on the bump stops, even fully loaded the truck still needs to have usable suspension travel.

The old US packs were 2 leaf + the overload , the Canadian trucks all came stock with the 3 leaf + the overload that later became the US "TSB" pack

As in TOTAL of 4. Unlike the USA config which had TOTAL of 3 until more recent models.
Like I said, it doesn't sit on the bump stops fully loaded. It has to be WAY over, as in over a full TON, which I have had on it.

Yeah, that is what I thought but just clarifying as my 2015 has 3+overload and I think the springs are way to soft in stock form.

That's why I'm wondering if there were multiple suppliers. My experience with the FACTORY springs (I got this thing brand new from the dealer) is inconsistent with above points of view.
