    I'm building a low profile roof rack on my camper shell. I'm trying to get it as low as possible. Right now the antenna is in the way. I can't imagine anyone one makes an aftermarket one do they?

    Interesting, thank you. I think I'll give it a shot. It's a bit odd they sell one for the 2nd gen. Did it get a dorkal fin somewhere along? Mine has old fashioned antenna

    Does anybody listen to the radio anymore?

    Speaking of: I read the 2024 Tacoma will have a 'removable' radio so you can take it out of the truck while
    camping and and via blue-tooth blare it. Exactly why I go camping, so I can listen to b.s. in the woods.... sheeeeshhhhk

    Not sure what year ur car is but in short those fins are high gain and demonstrate superior performance for applications such as navigation, communication and tracking. Each antenna is designed to meet the reliability and cost needs of the most challenging applications and market requirements.

    You may need it…. May aid the Toyota app…. Among other things- Etc. easier to post that info from a site as I can’t articulate my words that well haha

    It’s usefulness outweighs any reason to truly delete it

    @Halloween
    So satellite radio and navigation uses that antenna, sounds like. Anything else?
    Mobile phones seem to make those technologies obsolete for a lot of users, seems like.

    I just suggested they don’t delete. Up to them. It’s one more piece of tech that could prove handy (possibly) one day.
    The antenna provides enhanced reception at long distances and covers a frequency range of 450 to 850MHz. I think they have 3 freq bands
    The GNSS patch antenna receives the signals of the Global Navigation Satellite Systems GALILEO and GPS. I’d minimize its size but would keep it. That’s me and my opinion. The op can do whatever. It’s a just in case to an unforeseen situation.

    I looked for a flat replacement but couldn’t find anything.
    My ‘21 antenna actually fills the whole shark fin, there is no dead space. The only way I’ve figured out how to take off the antenna destroys the outer cover. So my antenna is now still connected but behind the rear seat. I put gorilla tape on both the top and bottom of the hole, laid a piece of vinyl on the top. We’ve seen an assload and a half of rain here and I’ve had no leakage, so far.C2F10358-E030-4A92-8C1F-786366A19F59.jpg

    I'd swap the dorky shark fin for a stubby AM/FM/VHF antenna in a heartbeat.
