    Howdy,

I just purchased a 2018 TRD Off Road and the first thing I'm trying to do is get rid of the pinstripe eyesore. are there any recommendations on how to safely remove these?

Welcome to TW! Do you mean pinstripe as in sticker, or pinstripe as in tree branch scratch? Technical term for tree branch scratches is pinstripes.

Welcome to the forum. Try using a hairdryer to warm the sticker then peel it off. Clean any excess glue off with WD 40 on a rag, wash and wax after that.

Use Goo Gone instead of WD40, Goo Gone is specifically designed to remove sticky residue.

Yours came with a pinstripe? Was that a dealer add on? Mine certainly didn't come with one.

I like using soapy wooder. I always forget which one of those lubricants destroys your paint.

Goo gone, Goof off, etc. I find it best to avoid them

Mine came with pinstripe off the lot also. Plus they were painted on. I just contacted the company that did it for the dealer and they offered to come out and remove them free of charge.

Don't scrub with googone, it will haze like mine. Wax will fix it though, until it wears off. Should be able to just heat up and peel right off, minimal adhesive left over.

Do not put goo gone on your trucks paint. It has petroleum distillates in it. Even WD-40 can cause issues on paint. Some don’t have issues if they put it on a rag and wipe it down but the internet is full of people who have put petroleum based products on their paint and have had problems. Read the label ingredients and if it even mentions petroleum anything, keep it away from anything painted that you care about.

It sounds like your truck is brand new. Things should come off easily with some effort. I think goof off MIGHT be ok for paint.

Goo Gone is basically just an adhesive remover and ok for clear coat so long as you clean with soap and water immediately after. It's slow acting on most surfaces so you just can't let it soak or sit for long periods... more than a few minutes to be safe. Just don't scrub with an abrasive cloth... best practice is to dab it on the stickers and lift it up with a non-marring plastic razor blade then clean up the adhesive with a paper towel or soft microfiber.

Never use Goof-Off for anything on a vehicle that isn't glass. It will cloud clearcoat and screw up plastics very quickly.

I used this to remove the TRD decal on one side: https://www.amazon.com/ABN-Rubber-E...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=C24N5XB8H2PQWQ7PZQZ6

I used low heat (like a hair dryer on low), fingernails, and patience on the other side.

Removal wheel was much faster, but needed a wax buffing (by hand) afterwards. It was definitely nerve racking taking the wheel to a brand new truck but it worked out fine.
