I recently began modifications to my 2010 Tacoma and decided that I want to remove the OEM factory roof rails that came with the truck. Only problem is that I don't know how and if I would need to replace the rubber strips on top of the truck. I would want the replacement strips to also match the color of the truck...don't know if that would be possible. Any help appreciated.

I put mine on myself. Very easy. I imagine it comes off just as easy.

You'll need some torx sockets, though. The strips will only come in black as far as I know.

No sealing necessary. You can just tape over the holes the screws go in before you put the strips in. The strips are basically held in place with double sided tape at each end and kinda fit into some grooves.

Dealer should have the strips. Not sure where else to get them?

You might also look on here for people wanting to get rid of them because they installed a factory roof rack. I would have given you mine off my 2011 when I installed the roof rack on it.

I plan on getting a Baja Rack for the 13 down the road but that won't do you any good now.

OP, another option would be to open a trade thread in the 2nd Gen B/S/T. Sure if you were to trade your roof rack for weather strips + ca$h (paypal) + buyer pays shipping both ways you'll get the strips and save some money. Check out the rules before posting.

Why the neutral feedback left for my post? Don't really care but just curious. It's pretty self explanatory when you leave feedback. You either approve or disapprove.

Since you hit disapprove I'm interested in which part bothered you so much?

Gotcha.... I never really paid attention to it just happened to notice and was wondering if I posted something that could have been construed as rude to a new member.

I think the OP will have to get those plastic clip(4) one at each end of roof rack.It is what the rubber strips clip into. When I installed my roof rack the directions said to break the sides of the clips off. Just something to consider, but as stated above you probably can work around this with sticky tape or a good adhesive.
