So in conclusion the amount of money he owes for his truck is irrelevant to the value or perceived value of the vehicle and it's relation to a bolt on skid plate.

I don't know why this is so hard

He said he paid nearly 40k and he expects a bolt to be tightened down

I don't see what the big deal here is

Cool story man. Glad you tightened a bolt. See ya around, hopefully no more bolts come out.

Because 40k note has nothing to do with a singular bolt. Thats all.

Good going OP :), I swear I read the first post differently. Your edit time was coincidental after the 40k question.

But seriously, I wish I had a buck for every time I've read "I paid $40K," or "for nearly $40K, you'd expect more/better....." on this forum, we get it! We almost all here in this section have a third gen, and know what they cost. To be honest, they're not expensive vehicles to begin with lol, AND let's remember that they're built by human beings. I guess most everyone here has NEVER made a mistake in their life.

BTW it does look much better without the air dam.

Well that's certainly the most morally appropriate response I've ready throughout this entire thread.

I'll call my dealer and immediately apologize for shaming them on a public forum and insisting they thoroughly inspect the vehicle to prevent unnecessary malfunctions, or possibly catastrophic accidents.

Lets picture this scenario. I don't remove the air damn. The skid plate inevitably becomes detached and in driving down the freeway, the car behind me swerves into oncoming traffic trying to avoid a large metal object being hurled in his direction and kills himself, his family and someone else's family.

Would we still be so forgiving for the mistakes that were made? I'd hazard a guess that we wouldn't be. But I digress, because fortunately I caught it in time to prevent something like that from happening, which, mind you is a very real possibility.

I'm not shaming the Toyota brand or Tacoma in general. I love Toyota and the Tacoma believe it or not even after voicing a very minuscule complaint quite literally just for giggles as indicated by the sarcastic inflection riddled throughout the original post. I'll buy again, surely. I mean jeez.

Well that is most definitely the absolute worst case scenario that could've happened. On the other hand, you take it in for the first free oil change, they notice it, and get it squared away. Sorry if I came off as bashing you personally, wasn't meant that way. I can't count on both hands how many times I've read the 40K comment. I paid like 43 plus everything for my '17, but I see many more expensive vehicles from other brand that still end up having real world issues as well. It was more of an "in general" type comment.

It's all good. I gave the worst possible scenario because I was involved in a similarly bad scenario which could have been remedied had a few bolts been properly adjusted. I wrecked a Toyota Camry and had to take it to the shop to get fixed. Got a new hood out of the deal and needless to say the hood didn't last too long. Same day I got it back from the body shop the hood blew off while I was doing 70mph down the highway and nearly impaled someone. Thankfully it was a narrow miss. But the unexpected sometimes happens.
