That’s impressive! and probably the best example I’ve seen of the articulation without it on.

That’s not entirely true. How much evasive driving have I done with my sway bar off, as of, say, 2 weeks ago?

    It’s barely perceivable. Not worried.

It's not really IFS if there's a sway bar

I've had my sway bar off for about a month now. I did notice the slight rub during parking lot cornering. The truck does have a little more body roll. I did not like the change at first but a couple of weeks without it and I was already used to it being gone. I have yet to go on any good wheeling trips since removal but im sure it will be much better when I do. I also do a lot of highway driving back and forth to work. No real change there except on really sharp on/off ramps.

    Bottom line.....Its staying off!

Can someone with Icons chime in? Icon's digressive shocks are stiffer than the fox/kings/ads on the street, and maybe the swaybar might not be as noticeable compared to the others.

How's the little bumps with the swaybar off? Same, or softer ride?

Tested mine with and without, 1.75" lift on Bilsteins. Definitely have slightly more body roll without the sway bar due to topper and added roof rack even with Bilsteins.

If you drive long enough, sooner or later you might benefit when taking an evasive maneuver.

Had to do a full lockup in my 1st Gen about 10 months ago when a garbage truck pulled out in front me while I was going about 55mph. Guess what? There was a cross with flowers on the side of the road indicating some died there recently. Lost a friend about 10yrs ago who rolled his big Dodge 4x4 over into a ditch under wet conditions driving solo at night. Have had to dodge deer at highway speeds with full loads on downhill mtn passes.

You get the picture yet? How about this, you're involved in a rollover accident and someone dies, maybe your passenger. The highway patrol investigates and takes pictures of your truck while it's upside down. Later another investigator or attorney notices the sway bar was removed. Litigation develops and a hard charging attorney has you admit under oath you removed your sway bar. Expert witnesses then testify the sway bar removal affects the handling characteristics which lead to the death of your passenger.

People die every day in auto accidents, driving is hazardous. Do not remove your sway bar, it's designed to help you during an evasive maneuver. You do not know more than the Toyota safety engineers and the DOT. All the automakers are sued by personal injury attorneys and the automaker attorneys always look for blame. Guess who is going to get blamed for removing their sway bar if you wind up in court?

    A few minor things...
Just some suspension setup 101... The stiffer end of the car tends to slide first. Factory suspension will (almost) always under-steer hitting an object head on with the most protection for the driver. Removing the anti sway/roll bar will take away a lot of stiffness in the front and will increase roll and create a moment of rotation for the back of the car to come around. Yeah, it increases travel/flex in the front end for off roading so by all means go for it for off road. On road it's probably not noticeable until you make a jerk movement like a swerve or evasive maneuver. Having the anti sway bar removed means more body roll, which means more weight on the outside tires but also the center of gravity has changed as well.

Off road: do whatever you want.

On road: keep the sway bar.

Another note... If you are installing a rear sway bar you should upgrade your front one to an even stiffer sway bar. This will maintain some sort of balance between the front and back. In a truck, the balance should be a stiffer/rigid front end to avoid a rollover mistake/accident.

Good post, some go with quick disconnects though they can be a pia I've read.

    Mechanical safety features or bust!

I get what you're saying, but 99% of drivers have never been at 9/10 of their vehicles handling capabilities to know when bad things are about to happen.
