Now I'm paranoid about rust in my bed under the plastic liner. The undercarriage of my '00 truck is already really rusty from having lived on the East coast for 15 years. Unfortunately not rusted enough to have been recalled a few years ago. Might have to pull my liner and see the carnage.

I had a friend do the welding. Came out pretty good I think(much better that if I would have welded it). I'll have to scrape the undercoating on thw under side of the bed in that area and spray more on. I'll smooth out the weld, prime and paint the top too.

Looks like a well done repair. I recently did a rust repair on my passenger bedside. Around the same time I also pulled my plastic bed liner. The paint under it was pretty good still but I went ahead and did a spray liner on it. I used Raptor liner on it. It seems to have come out pretty good so far. Only cost ~$100 and the only specialized thing I needed was an air compressor. The crappy part was all the prep work and sanding that went into it. In the end though, I think it was worth it.
I have more pics of the process in my build thread if you're interested.

A little more progress. I smoothed out the top with a grinder and then primed. I also scraped the bottom side undercoating as good as I could get where the welding melted. I primed and sprayed undercoating on it. I still have to finish the top side.
That looks great. I think I'm going to do this too. I'll check our your build.

Wow looks great. I found a hole about that size in the bed of mine a couple weeks ago. Looking for someone to cut out the spot and weld in a patch, definitely over my head. As soon as it's repaired I'm spray lining it. Hoping the patch won't be too pricey...
