Is there a way to replace the lower grille on a 3rd gen Tacoma? I know there are already some posts on this subject but I have yet to find any clear instructions/guidance. It's the one near the fog lights. I smashed up the current one I have on my Tacoma and want to replace it with a new one.

It's number 9 in the picture below

Welcome to the forum. That piece is held in by a bunch of clips as seen in the photo.

Thanks for the picture. So I'm guessing to replace it would require removing the whole bumper. In other words, is there's no way to replace it from the front without the pain of detaching the whole bumper?

I’ve never removed it but my assumption is that you could use a plastic trim tool (Harbor Freight sells them) to remove it by carefully working your way around it so as to not break the tabs. I’m sure someone around here has done this and will chime in soon.

@ToyodaTruck: thanks man. its a 30" rigid radiance bar. the brackets are cali raised.

@msgs350: ahaha. i believe you! i seen more than a few stories where honest people go somewhere to do errands and some shady mf comes and clips a couple wires and off like a thief in the night.

I like the grille. It's different and uncommon so it makes it special

Has anyone replaced yet lower grille yet? Once the bumper off is it an easy piece to replace?

Probably don't have to be careful if it's already busted. If it's like the fog light bezels, the tabs will break on the grille, before the holes of the bumper rip.

Well I cut out the grille part for a light bar, but when I put my SSO slimline bumper in, and my warn winch, the light bar won’t go back in there.. Going to relocate my light bar, but now need to replace just the lower grille.. I didn’t take the bumper off to install the SSO bumper, I manage to cut it while it was on the truck, and place it on. Before I start the pain in the butt of taking it off, just wonder how much of a pain it is to replace the lower grille..

Were you guys able to keep the lower grille and bumper on while installing that light bar?

Yeah, both the light bar and the SSO bumper, was easy to put on without removal of the bumper.. Now that I got the SSO bumper and warn winch, the solenoid blocks the light bar from going into the lower grille. So going to replace the lower grille and put the same light bar behind the upper grille.
