Removing battery/power, any issues?

Does the tacoma have any issues with removing the battery? Things such as relearning procedures etc? For instance, i once removed my wifes VW battery and it ran like crap for a week. Ill have the battery our for 30 minutes or so.

 

Only issue I'm aware of is if you've had the dealer mod the systems they will all revert back to original.
For example, I had the dealer turn off my seat belt chime. If I disconnect my battery the system will revert to original and the chime will now be on.

 

You might notice it will stall after initial startup upon hooking the battery back up but not always. I've had it do it once and the next time it did not. It also will idle lower than normal until you go drive it. It's normal and will go away the more you drive; ECU is just re-adapting.

 

No it won't. I have had my battery out more than once and the seat belt chime remained off.

OP yes the system will have to relearn the fuel curves etc for your driving. It will also idle like crap when you first start it back up and may even cut off the the first time.

 

ok, so no long term issues, probably some quick relearning by the truck on its own. Like i said, i had to go through hell getting my wifes car to run right. I hated working on german cars period.

This may not apply to 2nd Gen Tacoma's, but I'll throw it out anyway as the window operation on many modern Toyota's can be affected by battery removal.

NOTE:
Anytime the battery terminal has been disconnected, please initialize the driver’s door
power window and front passenger’s door power window after reconnecting the
battery terminal.

With ignition switch in the “ON” position, do the following:

1. Push down and hold the driver’s door power window switch to completely open
the window.
2. Pull and hold up the driver’s door power window switch until the window closes.
Continue holding the switch for approximately one second until the switch changes
from blinking to a constant illumination.
3. Check for proper operation of the “one–touch open and close” function by fully
pushing the switch briefly to the “DOWN” and “UP” positions.
At this time the power window switch for the passenger’s door window should
be blinking.
4. Push down and hold the passenger’s door power window switch to completely open
the window.
5. Pull and hold up the passenger’s door power window switch until the window closes.
Continue holding the switch for approximately one second until the switch changes
from blinking to a constant illumination.
6. Check for proper operation of the “one–touch open and close” function by fully
pushing the switch briefly to the “DOWN” and “UP” positions.
