Removing bug guts stain from paint

Anyone know how to remove bug gut stains from paint. I have good coat of wax on it, but it still stained it. It was on truck about 8 hours before I saw it. It came off easy, but it has stained my bumper. It is about a 2 inch diameter. It is smooth to the touch.

 

What did that bug have for dinner?
Guess it's in the wax, so strip the wax and it should be gone.

 

It looks like he had a jar of mustard. What should I strip it with, compound?

 

This only removed the actual guts. The stain is still there.

 

I would have a go at it with clay first.

Strip with regular dish soap like Dawn, or mineral spirits. The stain might still be there, the paint on these trucks, or really any new car is weak. Water based nowadays, not solvent.

Looks like I will be trying clay bar. If that doesn't work, I'll move on to polish or compound.

try apple vinegar first. it will blow off the wax and get that stain out. if not then go to clay.
rinse it off. I have been preaching vinegar lately because holy crap it really works, it just smells strong and you gotta rinse it off well

 

Also you can lightly use a mr.clean majic eraser. I have used it on hard spots on paint and glass. Its pretty safe

 

I second this...Vinegar is an amazingly strong yet surprisingly delicate natural cleanser.

 

I use a sponge with a net over it. And elbow grease

I would use distilled white vinegar if you have it... If you use apple vinegar and it's cloudy don't rub it hard on the paint.

Do you mean if the vinegar is cloudy? Will it eat the paint?

 

Yeah. Sometimes apple vinegar gets cloudy when it ages. I just wouldn't want to take any chances that the cloudy stuff would create any light scratches in the paint if rubbed to hard.

Ok so this made me think and I went to the interwebs for more info. Doesn't seem like vinegar should be too damaging to the paint whether it's cloudy or not. Doesn't seem to be any benefit of apple cider vinegar over white distilled or vice versa. I did see people mention diluting it. I would first try it diluted with water just to be safe, and gradually increase the vinegar amount if the lesser strength mixture isn't working. And just be sure to rinse off all the vinegar when you're done.
