Trying to remove the front end bed cap in order to install the end seals for my Bak cover. Using a T30 Torx on a socket wrench, I can turn the screws counterclockwise, but they don't loosen - they just seem to spin with resistance. Have tried all 5 or 6 screws, and the same thing happens.

Do the screws just go into the plastic bed liner, or are there special clips, or some sort of threaded female fitting in the bed wall?

I don't want to tackle the side rails, until I figure this out.

It's very cold here - maybe 35-37 F. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

If you start with the center bolt, did you try applying outward pressure (slip a flat head screw driver under the bolt head or pull outward on the rail) while loosening it? I would do the center first, that way if there is a washer or nut that falls off inside; no harm or foul if you lose the center one. If applying pressure works in removing it, immediately try to re-tighten before going forward. If it goes back in then you're golden. I hope it works for you. I don't know, just a suggestion. Let me know how you make out, my same cover arrives on Tuesday. :)

Going to wait until Tuesday to install. Supposed to get up to 55F. Today is only about 36F. Need a reasonably mild day to install the top and end bed rubber seals anyways.

FYI- I received mine today and just finished installing it with a co-worker, everything went smoothly. It took us one hour and 45 minutes going easy. One of my side rails was damaged in shipping, the spring was broken and the rail bent, but not the end of the world; reformed the spring and rail and installed it any way. No trouble and the install pages included a 2016+ Tacoma supplemental page.
