Removing Cat or Muffler

Has anyone here straight piped their taco? Or maybe just took the muffler off or maybe just Cat? Any lights on dash? All suggestion or tips are appreciated!

 

First a question. Why in the hell would you want to do that?

Next a Suggestion. Don't do it. You will get a CEL or MIL code for the Cat Converter. If your state has emissions testing it will not pass.

Next a Tip. Don't do it. It is stupid. You will regret it later.

Another Tip. Don't do it. It will sound like crap.

 

Don't screw with the cats.

 

Will sound like shit.

Will lose power.

Will not be legal in California.


No gains. All losses.






That said, some people like having their new car sound like a 40 year old hagged out piece of crap. They will tell you it sounds great.

Use your own judgement.

 

I've heard people saying it sounds nice like a deeper growl but I'm most likely not gunna go that route and will just get a cherrybomb those sound amazing on taco's IMO

You can get an O2 sim from URD to take care of the lights on the dash as a result of this. I have straight piped my truck, sound was ok and didn't really notice a loss in acceleration etc but I am sure someone can pull up a chart proving me wrong. I have Doug Thorley headers and a URD Performance Y-pipe on my truck.

 

What about loss of back pressure and possibility of burning valves?

Unbolt your muffler pipe section, move it off to the side and drive around some. If you don't like it, put it back on, no harm. If you do like it,,, please seek immeditate professional help, your hearing or your mental state are suspect.
