I only see one screw at the bottom. But going to remove it with a pry tool, I feel pressure.

Just so I have an idea of what rip you are talking about, which trim pieces? If you are removing the face plate of the AC controls you have to pull the knobs off first and then plate is held on my small clips and should just pop off.
If you are removing the trim below that I think there is a screw on each side of panel near the footwells and is also held on by some clips.

My knowledge is from a 99 base model so YMMV.
Can you give a picture as reference? I might be able to offer more help if I can see what you see.

    Cheers!

I want to get the "front plate" off. The large piece of plastic that has cutouts for pax airbag control, 2x vents, audio, and hvac controls.

Goal is to remove this to get easier access to remove the audio/cd player unit and also to remove the vents to clean them up.

This video might help, short video and pretty easy to follow along.

I had screws in my dash instead of pop clips but it is a relatively easy job. Take your time and try not to force anything. Should be pretty easy overall. Hope that helps.

There are a couple of not so obvious screws, if you encounter resistance do not force it. Closer look with a light will help.

Careful- the vents have tiny, tiny parts that facilitate the up-down adjustment in direction. The parts are so tiny they can fall out and you don't even know it until you try to put them back together and the up-down doesn't work so well. Don't ask me how I know this!
