Just bough these 2012+ mirrors w/ turn signals and they came with the chrome caps already installed.
Going to colormatch the chrome parts Superwhite.

Anyone know how to remove the caps? I tried prying it up but don't want to break them.

Are those brand new mirrors? I will trade you my 2015 Pyrite Mica mirrors for those.

tilt the mirror full down, or remove the mirror from the housing, there are friction lock tabs on the inside that need to be unlocked.

    boy that chrome is pimp!
also, judging from the mold casting lines on that housing those do not look like OE ones from toyota, but the Chinese ones. use care when 1) removing the mirror 2) moving the tabs, they are delicate. i had those on my truck for about 3 weeks before i took them off and GAVE them away, they were horrible, but that's another story.

PS. you dont want those rick, the ones from the dealer arent too much more $

the ones from Toyota are $170 each and the pre-painted covers are around $60. def worth the extra $150 or so over the Chinese ones. i weighed both sets when i had them and the toyota pair weighed almost 3 pounds more. the cheap ones shook so bad on the highway i could hardly see the kind of vehicle that was behind me, plus the casting lines looked like crap.

Really? I like the look of these.
As for the weight, they're actually pretty hefty. Feel about the same as my OEM ones.

Guess I'll install them first and see how they are before I take them apart to paint. Thanks for the heads up!

It's just "chrome" plastic, is it not?

No not really. You can't properly repaint that piece even if you stripped it. knight is correct

What material is it that it can't really be sanded down to remove the chrome finish?
