    Oh yeah: I guess I should have been more clear. I wouldn't have posted that celebratory trash-talk (#17) at any time prior to its being a done deal. The great mechanic who found the expansion valve shortcut also did the flush and recharge. Been chillin' since Friday afternoon. Thanks. :)

    Fantastic!! I fret about posting some of this stuff, even though it seems like it is representative, but couldn't find anything about an '05. Leading down an unnecessary rabbit hole isn't helpful....
    Very happy you didn't tear out stuff that didn't need to be. Mechanic earned his part and you certainly earned yours.

    Again . . .How do you get to the expansion valve through the firewall
    Yes I know this post is as old as dirt but still very relevant especially to me right now.

    Bilstein 5100 Adjustable Shocks with Toytec coil springs (2.5 inch lift Front) - Bilstein 5100's rear - 265/70/R17 Goodyear Wrangler Duractrac's

    Take a look at this video for the expansion valve. It is located on the passenger side of the engine bay at the firewall. This video will show how to replace the small filter for the expansion valve. Hope this helps.
