I'll be installing new speakers soon. What is the proper way to remove these plastic rivet things to get the door panel off? If prying with a screwdriver is right, so be it, but I want to do this right for once. Can the rivet be saved for reuse?

Push the center in then use a spudger (plastic guitar pick like pry bar thing) to pull it out, reset the push pin by pulling the center proud, reinserting into the panel and door and pushing it half way so it is flush as shown.

The rest of the door should pry off with plastic trim pry bars be careful as there may be a hiding screw or two in the door grab or handle.

The plastic skin then picks up off and out of the window slot, do not pull it away until you're certain all switches and wires have been disconnected.

A trim pop tool is great for stubborn clips that choose to stay in the door holes rather than coming with the door skin.

Cool, so actually push it in further for removal? Never would have guessed. Thanks.

Yep just the center of the dot not the whole body it should push in with very little effore and only go in maybe 1/8-3/16" any more and you'll push the captive center pin all the way through it and into the door where your new speakers will cause it to rattle ad infinitum.

Be careful, mine actually popped out and went flying across the floor when I pushed the center. Lol.

Hmmmmm. That’s weird that someone said to push it in. I always just use a small flathead and pop the center part out. Then the whole thing comes out.

There's nothing to put the screwdriver under as far as I can tell. It's a little plastic pin with no lip.

My bad. I must have been thinking about a different piece. The other person was right though and I just confirmed. Push the center in, then stick your nail under the lip of the outer part and pull out.

When you go to put it back in you would push the center piece out, put it in, and then push the center flush with the outer part.

Yeah. Just got my Crutchfield instructions and they actually spelled it out there too.

Not looking forward to getting the manual window handle off though. It was always a pain on my Chevy. Crutchfield recommends somehow using a rag under the handle to break loose the clip. Worth a shot.

Oh yeah.....the infamous Jesus clip on window cranks.

When you manage to dislodge and get that bugger unclipped.....it takes flight to land in some undiscovered universe. Soon, followed by the exclamation, "Jesus! Wherd it go!!" Hence the name of the clip.
