Update: hot water pressure washer worked like a charm. I used my dad's diesel hot water pressure washer and it had no problems taking the F.F. off. I wasn't able to reach all the area because the wand was leg and I didn't jack the truck up. But I got it pretty clean. Thanks for the help.

This was the first thread to come up when I searched I know it is old.

Just how flammable is Fluid film once applied ?

I wonder if I can remove several years of build up inside the frame to not have a major fire ?

Looks to me someone installed blocks on the rear springs and never changed the shocks.

While the frame looks good one upper shock mount failed and the other is only held on by a thread.

Even a good pressure washer with cold water should do it. My craftsmen pressure washer would blast any grime right off. At any rate i'm done with fluid film. Cosmoline rp-342 is much better at not collecting any crap, plus it doesn't need to applied every year.

It will clean enough out of the inside of the frame to be safe from catching fire??

Imo, you have nothing to worry about. Once any of these rust inhibitors dry, i doubt any gas's they give off if possible, are going to be flammable.

I am putting FF on soon for the first time so I looked into the flammability. I get paranoid about this kind of stuff. I used to be a firefighter and I also take my truck on some rough family-owned property with high grass etc. Here is what I found:

Not in aerosol form and once applied FF is roughly as flammable as engine oil. If given a source (spark etc.) it will ignite at about 400F, and automatically ignite at a temp much higher than that. Here is how I look at it: If the truck burns down FF will not be a contributing factor; the FF will burn off just like any other oil/grease.

If you were using your torch or welding in an area near FF you could ignite a flame that would need to be addressed but would not spread quickly if at all.

I got this info from FF MSDS's and other resources. Along with my opinion.

Good to know and thank you .

I am more worried about the inside of the frame the exterior would be just like anything oil covered and be easy to clean.

I look at the inside of the frame almost like a Chimney fire after all 400 degrees F is not that hot

Maybe just charge enough to have oil and grease fire suppression on hand .

I want to fluid film my frame but dipped my finger inside of the frame and there is a little sludge on the bottom of the interior of the frame.

Even if I were to get water at pressure in there, most of it would just stay in there cause there are really no drain holes before the frame goes over the rear axle. Is that right? No one talked about how to clean the interior.

I've gotten the FF on my exhaust by accident and it just smokes/evaporates off. I don't see this stuff catching fire.
