so while trying to loosen the three nuts at the top of the strut hat, the rear most one, rounded off the corners of the nut using a 12 point socket. What’s the best way to remove it now? that bugger is in such a tight spot. Try to force a 6 point socket onto it?
The two that are more visible and accessible, no problem, was able to break them loose.

    Thanks in advance

First I’d suggest putting some antisieze on the 2 you removed, reinstall the nuts and tighten and then try to remove the rounded off nut first. That’s a tight spot but try to get something 6 point on it. Good luck

Bolt extractor should do the trick if you have enough room to get a socket on it.

Old thread, but I'm struggling with these things. First let me vent that it is so hard to find 6 point sockets. So frustrating. All they sell around here is 12 point sockets besides impacts. Anyway, how do you get these things off? 14mm is tiny for how tight they seems to be. Hard to get a breaker bar in there, and impossible to get an impact on them. The bottom strut bolt (on the shock part) is fantastically tight too. My impact is just making noise. I'm off to buy a deep impact so I can get at it without extensions, but otherwise I'm stuck at square one on this strut replacement job. Any words of wisdom?

Well, I got stuff out. I bought a no-ratchet breaker bar and was able to get it to fit. Used a 6 point impact socket to avoid stripping.
