Has anyone removed the headliner on the 4th gen? If so, is there anything special to know? Any tips would be appreciated. I have the factory roof rack, and at highway speed, I get a descent amount of noise from the roof. I'm thinking about putting some type of sound insulation up there. Any reason this is a bad idea? Now that I've gone from my really noisy '08 to my '24, I shouldn't complain about a little noise, since it's so much quieter in the new cab, but I can't help it. Thanks in advance.

More than I need but still not enough.
I was watching a YouTube video where they were upgrading a 4th gen and wanted to put the stars in the headliner. They had to remove the windshield to get the headliner out of the cab. With the amount of wires they had coming out of the backside I would imagine there is enough room to add some thin sort of sound deadening.

To drop it its easy, but remove you typically remove the windshield

What I do is remove the pillar trim, the handles, mirrors, map lights, the drop it enough to rest it on the head rests, dont remove it.

    Then apply the sound deadening.

Honestly, I dont know how much the sound deadening will cure that wind noise. You likely are better off living with it.

Doesn't the 4G have some deadening up there already? Maybe not dynamat quality but I think it has some foam or something.

It does. There's some fiberglass-like material.

Sounds like it's not worth it. Oh well, just a thought. Thanks for letting me know. I'm being a little picky anyways. It's 100 times quieter than the old truck.

Cool. I figured. This is one of the quietest trucks I’ve driven.

I think so. I've got the Premium package in the OR.

Lol. It's been a while since I've had a truck I didn't have to tinker with. I'm still getting used to that. It is super quiet. I can actually talk at a low volume and my kids can hear me in the back seat.

I'm not sure. I have the premium off road package, but I don't remember seeing anything about acoustic glass.

I hear y’all. It’s fun to make incremental improvements on your own over time. It’s rewarding. But there’s still plenty to do. Ditch lights. Bed covers. Chasing rattles.

You should have it. If the front door glass is super thick compared to rear then you do.

A YouTuber with a trail hunter mentioned horrific harmonics from the trailhunter rack. Might become a widely reported thing. I doubt any additional deadening will make much of a difference when the rack is the issue.

Mine doesn’t make any noise that I can tell. Put 830 miles on it including 380 highway. But maybe when I take it off, it’ll get even quieter - which is hard to believe since it’s so quiet.

Edit - that said my rear driver side door had a rattle that cropped up on very rough roads that I fixed with a small strip of thick tape
