Removing Lexus RX 350 or Alternative to Universal Pulley Puller Set? - 09950-50013

I work on my vehicle and is due time to replace the water pump. The engine is mounted transversally on the RX 350 and according to the manual this tool is needed to remove the crankshaft pulley. https://www.partsnext.com/toyota/09950-50013-set-puller-c/ It's called Universal Puller Set C for Toyota and it's expensive as hell. The 'cheapest' I found is $750.

Is there any other alternative puller set from the likes of Harbor Freight, OTC, Lisle that you know of?

I can't say for certain it will have the right configuration, but their icon stuff is typically very good. There's also a pittsburgh set for significantly less.

 

Allot of auto parts stores (especially the national chains) loan or rent out tools. Might be worth it to try the ones they have to remove the pulley at little or no cost.

 

Most of the newer engines the pulley will slide right off. If not, use a 1/4 inch extension and hammer and tap around the surface that the crank bolt sat on.
