Removing mud flaps

Ok guys has anyone removed their mud flaps? Thinking of removing the front ones. My question is, how do you remove the three black plastic buttons with out braking them? Or dos it matter?

 

I removed my fronts a couple years ago when I got my Duratracs since they rubbed on them in turning. I forget how they come out though but I remember it being easy and I didn't break anything.

 

this. but you still may brake them. and their is 2 or 3 small bolts i think...

 

2 screws plus on the pins pry up the center part first then pry out the whole thing. If it is cold out you will probably break them.

 

Are you sure you want to remove them? Your rocker panels will get pummeled with rocks from driving without the protection of the mudflaps.

 

My rockers have taken a little beating without them just from being on an occasional stone road. Nothing terrible, but I've touched up quite a few spots. I didn't have much of a choice with the tires I wanted. I would have just kept them on if I was keeping stock tires on.

 

Yeah that is what I was afraid of. That is why I did'nt wont to brake them. Just incase I deside to reinstall them.

I removed all of mine. Just a tip..twist the screw driver back and forth to slowly pry it out..I did all of my flaps successful without breaking a single clip.

 

Doesn't the flap cover the drain at the back of the fender? I just cut mine short and so far I haven't broken them. They still provide some protection.

I keep hoping someone will have a spare driver side front flap they want to let go of for little to nothing... No dice yet, unless someone in this thread wants to give one up...

I think he meant if you take the mudflaps off other Tacomas, you can sell them for $150 for a side-job.

When i took mine off i didnt care if they broke so i unscrewed them and poped the clips then just kicked it off... and actually none of them broke lol
