Got the rack removed last night, used the butyl/putty tape to fill holes and taped over the holes and reinstalled the original weatherstripping.

Yeah mine leaked after initial install as have many peoples, there's a few threads in here. Had to buy different rubber washers uninstall add RTV sealant and washers then reinstall.

Yeah, I have installed many roof rack/ rails in my time. This is probably one of the worst design/construction for rail system.
I install one on a crv and they had the actual screw/bolt welded sealed on the roof under the weather stripping. The the parts they give you are the pre threaded that screws onto the welded bolts so there is no chance of leaking since there is no actual holes on the roof.

I dont think this particular one will fit a Access cab since it says specifically on the toyota box as DC. But I might be wrong.

Just wondering if there's the same one for an access cab. The cabs are definitely different lengths.

From my search I do not think there is an OEM roof rack for AC. You might have to go with an aftermarket rack like prinsu or something like that.

i posted a reply with pics in the thread titled: “Yakima roof rack?”

    here is what i’m doing:

“Thank you and everyone else who contributed to this thread with their info!
I now have all the components to try this mysef- here is what i have:
    1. Set of four Yakima control towers (pre-skyline towers but attach the same) used off ebay for $160
    2. Pair of 58” round bars i already had, which i will probably shorten.
    3. Set of four Landing pads, #24 as mentioned above, they are made specific to mount to 3rd gen tacoma roofs factory roof rack location. $126 from rack attack website.
    4. Yakima “basketcase” old style roof basket and mounting hardware. $60 off craigslist
    5. Yakima old school first generation wind fairing off ebay for $80 shipped

at $426 total investment this setup comes way under what a prinsu costs and in my experience using yakima racks for over 26 years, will be just as, if not stronger than prinsu racks. I have zero doubt this setup will easily handle a rtt or whatever other shit i want to load up onto it.
I once hauled a complete 1927 ford roadster body on the roof of my wagon on yakimaracks and drove it 1700 miles to its nextowner no prob. That shit was way overloaded lol and it was just fine. Not condoning thatbehavior, but i trust em for sure.

i will post up pics as soon as i mount it up and tell you guys how it works out!”

Pics of what it should look like:

Sold the roof rack here locally. Although to be honest, I wouldn't want to get a the OEM one if were to do it again. if for the looks you are looking for then sure but the quality in not up to par for a $450 part here in Canada. I would look elsewhere.

I’m thinking about putting the rhino rack backbone with the pioneer platform on mine. IMHO the best looking rails.

I’ll just add that I read all those threads and tried the rubber washers — they deformed and burped out of alignment for me when I tightened the bolts. I think the foam washers, which don’t slip, are designed for what you need. I did add RTV sealant to the holes and threads as a precautionary measure and haven’t had a leak.

I encourage you to strongly consider an aftermarket rack.

The OEM was practically useless and a waste of money.

The OEM rack is great for paddle boards, kayaks and 2x4s. Other than that its not great. The bars are to far apart for any cargo box to fit. Another problem I have came across is when I go camping. The back of the truck will be full and I find cheap wood for sale, I have no where to put it. If I had a Prinsu rack I could just throw it up top. That's my 2 cents.
