Hi y’all. My 2010 has paint protection film all over it. I appreciate the original owner keeping the paint safe for 205k miles. 90% of it still looks clean and fresh, but a couple pieces are scratched up, and I was wondering if it’s safe to remove/replace it? I don’t want to peel off clearcoat or anything, so if it’s risky I’ll leave it alone. It would be nice to let the paint be paint after 12 years and all those miles.

It can be a royal PIA to remove. Besides a heat gun (I used a very old hair dryer) and plastic utensils you'll need time and a lot of patience. Plenty of youtube videos (some good - some bad) on removing protective film from a vehicle.

I tested the one spot that was scratched and it peeled off no prob, fresh shiny green paint underneath!

Maybe 3% of the adhesive stayed on. The rest was one slow pull staying close to the surface. It was cold and damp this morning so I'm guessing that helped.
