I have some scratches and gouges on the lower right of my 2016 Sport dashboard/knee bolster, on the textured black plastic. What is the best way to sand/polish/remove these scratches while maintaining the original appearance of the plastic? Thanks for any ideas.

Not happening. Chalk it up to character of the truck.

Blend it with a marker maybe but that texture can’t be “matched” without making things worse. IMO

FWIW - Not sure if the plastic is the same, but I have a 2015 and had scratches on my dash - I liberally applied 303 Aerospace on my scratches (and the rest of the dash), then rubbed the scratched area with a micro fiber cloth - it's virtually undetectable now.

Do not do this!! I tried it on the bumper of a Nissan Craptier and the results were terrible.

Lol. Well I definitely wouldn’t recommend it on the interior of a fairly new truck.

Why would someone want a melted plastic dash?

OP as its been stated its not realistic to remove scratches out of the plastic portions and have a factory look at the end.

Heat guns damage plastic parts and can very easily lead to a horrid looking panel.
It pulls the oils in the plastic which give the illusion it is restored but the plastic can dehydrate and crack over time.

Its a huge risk. Most people who have tried using heat guns for any vinyl repair will tell you to learn from their mistakes and not do it.
    Even me :anonymous:

Its right up there with terpintine and linseed oil as a plastic restorer.
