Got a quote for $450. I scheduled it. My buddy loaned me a DA polisher. I’ll try it on a less conspicuous area to see the results. Hopefully can save some coin !

Dude, save your money. If you're near me I'd show you how to do it for free.

Your problem is you're doing it by hand. You cannot hand polish out swirl marks. A glaze will temporarily fill them for a while but after time they will come off. Megs swirl remover and ultra cut compound work great if you have a DA buffer.

You can get a cheap one from harbor freight for like 60? dollars. Get yourself a orange/yellow or microfiber pad and you can buff those out in no time.

Also, even if you hand wash you WILL get swirl marks, regardless if you do the 2 bucket method. But the 2 bucket method is a safer way to hand wash, which is 1000x times better than any machine scratch-wash.

You can get everything you need for less than a 100.

    DA Polisher (Porter cable clone) - 80 - 25% coupon = $60

Orange cutting pad - $7.00 Microfiber polishing towel - $2.00 @Inverted you already have the polishing compounds which work great. You can buy everything you need for roughly $69 dollars (...nice). Watch a few youtube vids on how to use a DA buffer (junkman2000 or Ammo NYC are good) and you're all set.

I have a link my sig showing how to get rid of pinstripes; same thing applies to swirl marks.

NuFinish and Mother's Cleaner Carnauba is all I have now. I do have a DA orbital buffer from harbor Freight that works great but quite honestly with 3 kids I dont get the time I used to as some of these guys do. This works well and handles the car washes. We suscribe to a local one that is excellent and once a few months I use one or the other and have been super pleased. My truck is white and easy but the wifes car is so dark blue its almost black and I have been impressed so far with how these look...and I have been doing it by hand in thin coats.

Update: Amazon screwed up my order, so I went to Harbor Freight and picked up a (random speed) DA polisher, an orange and white pad and Meguiar’s polish.

Took me a few hours to get the hang of it, but I was able to remove all of the damage on the driver’s side so far. I hit it with 105 and followed with polish.

In the midst of my intense focus, my Malinois got tired of waiting for me to let her back in the garage with me. So she decided to take herself on a walk. What’s funny is it was the same path and direction we normally take.

After looking for her for 30 min with the help of my neighbors, she strolled back up the driveway with a “I don’t need you for anything anymore, f*cker” look on her face.

Anyway, I appreciate everyone’s help. The Junkman video really helped.

    And welcome to the addiction

Once you see how uncomplicated the process it is, it will become and obsession.

Now enjoy going down the detailing rabbit hole!

Thanks guys. Now I want to move on to the hood, tailgate and bumpers. It’s addicting for sure

I use the truck for commuting and hunting a few times a month. So I’m sure I’ll continue to have things to correct constantly

It's so satisfying once you get that mirror finish (ignore the mess in my garage, we had just moved in)

    This is my process -

    Foam Cannon pre-wash
    Two bucket wash
    Iron Removal
    Clay Bar
    Isopropyl Alcohol
    Polish with DA polisher
    Wax/Ceramic coating

Truck looks good! Glad you got those swirls out. The product line up. Is that the order you used it in? I'm assuming that harbor freight da polisher worked ok? Awesome job man.

I just traded my 16 in on a blacked out TRD Pro leftover I stole. This thread helped greatly LOL. Never in my life have I washed my own car... Never in my life have I owned Black! Ordering everything mentioned above LOL. No way I can trust someone else or a car wash with black...
