Ok guy I've got a question. Im taking my truck in soon to have engine mount gussets installed because of rust. I plan on removing the front diff myself before taking it in so that the guys at the shop don't have to and save some time. Is it OK to drive the truck without the front diff and axles? Total drive distance to and from shop is about 30 miles

Pretty sure the diff and drive shaft can be removed, but the problem is the front axles. There needs to be a axle nut at each front wheel to hold the wheel bearing together

he would need some donor cv axle spindles to go on the nut. right? this would be some jerry rigging but might work.

Or just the outer birfields from some wrecked half shafts

Should just need the outer stubs from a trashed CV.

So im thinking of going to my local dealer and seeing if they have any trashed axles to work with, I have a couple buddies that could help with that, the repair I'm sending it in for is a 10 hour job with the diff in the way so im hoping I can lessen that for the guy doing it

Maybe drive it there and remove the diff.
