The grill separates into 2 pieces. Chrome surround and grill insert. Take grill out and there are clips on backside. I use a small plastic putty knife and screwdriver to pop them and there are a few. The two pieces come apart.

Right on the 18 TRD sport there is a clear plastic shroud specifically around the emblem. I am not sure how to remove it.

Are you are referring to the clear plastic "dome" over the logo? This cannot be separated from the logo without breaking it. We make a decal that goes over the logo without affecting the TSS radar that is embedded behind the logo. Send me a PM for details if you are interested.

It’s a bitch. Take all the screws out and half of the clips on the back are for that surround you want to remove.

Interested on your decal. But most decals i buy are extremely difficult to install with out bubbles or wrinkles

New to TW, and this is my first post. I know how to remove the grill assembly on my ‘18 TRD Sport, but my question is: Is there a way to remove just the plastic shroud that covers the emblem and sensor without removing the whole grill assembly? Can I remove the sensor, chrome Toyota emblem, and plastic dome shroud by simply going in between the radiator and grill? I’m afraid I will break the tabs if I remove the whole assembly. Thanks, and I love the site!

I've seen videos somewhere how to remove. Its really difficult to remove that little star washer holding it together. I suggest using one of those prying tools. And slowly go at it. I want to replace at ugly chromed toyota emblem but there is nothing in the market because of the TSS sensor.

I’ll see what I can find. I’ve seen some videos on the entire grill assembly. I’m guessing the plastic cover is permanently attached to the mesh grill? The locking washers are throwing me for a loop. I picked up a stock grill from someone for $20 and I’m assuming it came off a ‘17 without the TSS because there’s no plastic cover over the toyota emblem. I popped the emblem out and plan on painting it red to replace my chrome one if I can get to it. I’m know I’m in the minority, but I like the Toyota emblem vs just the word Toyota in the pro grills.

I know this is old, but I ended up just buying a used spare grille assembly off marketplace and painted it myself. Then I just swapped it out with mine. The only difference is I have the pre-collision sensor disabled now. It’s not a necessity for me, but may be for others. I wanted rid of all the tacky chrome as well. It turned out decent, especially for about $30 total in grille assembly and paint.
