I have the 3rz, and 2 of the 4 bolts that hold the outer two pulleys (power steering and i think AC) got sheared off into a connector plate on the crankshaft assembly (i think they're called thruster plates according to some FSM i have). Ill post a picture below. So now I'm hoping to remove the plate to easily clear out the sheared off ends.

But if i turn the bolt on the end of the crankshaft it will just spin so Im wondering how I'm supposed to separate the plates. Im no mechanic so any advice would be appreciated.

remove center bolt, use harmonic balancer puller to pull it off

the center bolt screws into the crank shaft so it has to unscrew, or are you saying you stripped it?

you didn't do that stupid trick of turning the engine over to break it loose did you?

impact gun, this should have enough torque and speed to break it loose before it turns the motor over. verify whether its a right or left hand thread

I just removed this on my 2.4L to change the front crankshaft seal. My truck is manual so I put it in gear engaged the parking brake and used a pipe for more leverage (counterclockwise).

TO use an impact gun I wouldve had to remove the radiator. so I opted for the manual approach.

Harmonic balancer came out easy by prying behind it with a screwdriver.

I have seen some guy on youtube put a brakerbar on the bolt and rest it against the frame, then crank the engine for a second to get it loose.

    ^^^^^ do this ^^^^^

^^^^^ DO NOT do this ^^^^^

yes its rare to happen but it can sometimes sheer the bolt off or strip the head, then you are screwed totally trying to get that broken bolt out of your crankshaft to save your engine.

use proper tools and technics not shade tree backyard solutions
