Agreed, you'd be better served to do some masking and spray bedliner on it.

You can purchase some silicone paste that we’ve used in the auto industry for years.I used it originally for sealing up some gaskets around old 70’s t-top TransAm’s to keep them from leaking water.
You rub all the rubber gaskets around the doors, let it sit a while (4-5 hours),then rub the excess off.Temps should be somewhere above 70-80’s degrees. It basically makes the rubber renew itself or “thicken or fluff” up a bit.It will also extend the life of the gaskets.
Don’t expect a miracle, but it will help the seals around where air or water will pass through.

The door seals are a known problem on 2nd gens. There are many posts about how to add a second piece of sealer to help reduce the air leakage at high speeds and cross winds.

I have had the Dynamat Hoodliner on my truck for over 2 years with no problems at all and I live in Florida where it gets very hot. The following is a quote from the 3rd gen section when I originally installed it. I have since filled in some gaps and currently have 95 square feet of Dynamat, Dynaliner, Dynapad, etc. along with 72 square feet of closed cell foam on top of all the areas where it was possible.

    Quote:
Installed a Dynamat hood liner today. This was not to make my ride any quieter since I already have 79 square feet of Dynamat, Dynapad, etc on the doors, floor, rear wall and roof. This was primarily to block the heat from hitting the hood to protect the paint in the long term as I plan on keeping this truck a long time. A while back I noticed 10 predrilled holes in the hood frame that fit perfectly the extra box of plastic fasteners that I used for the liner under the back seats where the jack is located. Toyota apparently planned on having a hood liner come with these trucks but the bean counters cancelled it to save a few dollars. The hood liner size is 54 inches by 32 inches. The 54 inch width was perfect but the 32 inch height had to be trimmed by around 3 inches which fit well on the top of the firewall. After taking off the backing paper the liner is very sticky so I started at the middle of the hood and worked out from side to side while punching holes in for the plastic fasteners. When I got to the bottom I had to take off the tubing for the windshield washers and put them back in after pressing down the liner. Finally, after the liner was installed I sealed each side with 3M metalic duct tape. I ended up using 7 plastic fasteners which I probably didn't need since the liner was very sticky. When I took it for a test drive it did seem to be a little quieter but the main reason is still to protect the paint for the long term.

Nice! Glad to see it can be done without adverse effects. I'm guessing the Dynamat hoodliner is similar to their traditional noise deadening material (butyl like Noico, Kilmat, etc) but with a higher degree of heat resistance?

I like the idea of a second gasket to help in noise reduction. As far as my comment goes, the OEM gaskets are 10 years old on my taco. They do dry out over time..

same here. the optimal solution on our older 2nd gen trucks would probably be replacing the gasket entirely but I'm gonna try adding some 1/4" drip tubing in between the flaps of the door weather seal as an affordable option

It helps to clean the gasket and paint surface and lube the gasket, both get loaded with dirt that reduces the quality of the seal.

it started as a quest in another thread to figure out the best and different types of sound insulation for the truck while I have the rear seats out for audio install.... Now I have to tear the whole things down because I keep seeing all these posts of how people are doing it LOL

Are these measurements correct for the 2nd gen (pick up section of this chart). I looking for exact sq ft for headliner, doors, and floor and possibly wheel wells. I plan on using Noico 80 mil as base and Noico Red 315 mil on top. Can any body give me ball park figures before I purchase on Amazon and start this project? TIA!

I used 7.5 sheets out of the 9 sheets that came with my 36sq ft noico pack doing the 4 doors on my Tacoma, inside the shell and outside so those figures seem pretty accurate.

You can do the doors, roof, and back panel with 36 Sq ft. If you want to do the entire floor you'll need another 30 sqft

There is no way way you could cover all that with just 36 sq ft if you are aiming for 80-100% coverage. If you were just doing 50% maybe.

Though maybe if you had an access cab you could pull it off. I used about 30 sq ft on just my doors with my 4 door
