Thank you Crom. Another reason the film may be more placebo than a working product.

Welcome. I wrote to Toyota about the glass six years ago, they sent me this document in return, which shows the UV filtering specs from the factory glass.

Those numbers are all over the place WTF? Good to know there is some protection there, but in any case, I have extra in mine. I ordered it done before I took delivery, so can't compare before/after.

Good to hear, kinda. I really don't want to yank that headliner down. :( But would love some temp change in there.

Thanks Funk. The difference is noticeable and made a difference for me. I believe that threshold would be different for everyone in different climates so others may not agree. I would still recommend this to anyone though. The headliner isn't as bad as it seems. Pretty straightforward actually, just tedious...

@ghostship hey so skimming through this thread in didn't see anything about sound? Both materials you got advertise sound dampening as well. Did you notice any sound quality change?

I did. My main concern for this project was heat reduction in the roof, but I knew that I'd get sound insulation as well. I did the roof and back wall only and could tell a huge difference in how quiet my cabin was. My crummy stock stereo sounds a lot better with just that little bit of help. I have a bit left over of both products and plan to do my doors in the future just because I have it and might as well use it. I know that's where you'll get the best improvement if you're looking for better sound quality. You'll want to seal the doors up tight (outer and inner skins), essentially turning them into "speaker boxes". Depending on how deep you want to delve into the project and what your goals are for better sound, you might also want to look at @Crom 's build thread. He did an amazing job of sealing his doors and reports an extremely quiet cabin.
    I'll post a link in a bit.

Hmmmm I tore apart the rear and was at frys picking up the stinger road kill but the didn't have it (even though the computer said they did). The road noise is liveable for a few days might just order up this stuff

@GHOST SHIP Did we ever talk white vinyl wrap or plastiderp for the roof? Wondering more about that again with the heat reduction.

Hey Doc. I thought about it, but really I guess it would only help with the heat reduction of it were a light color. Honestly, I'm not that committed to the heat reduction project to have my truck look like a patchwork of different colors. I think what I've done so far is my phase two of the project. Phase one being window tint and the windshield shade. My last part will be to add a layer of the frost king or reflectix type insulation to the roof. As I've mentioned before, the weakness of this project is always going to be the glass. Unless someone is willing to cover all the glass everytime they park in the sun, heat will always penetrate the cabin. It's already annoying enough for me to put up my windshield shade unless I'll be gone for hours. As summer approaches, I'll have some better tests with direct comparisons to a buddy's truck that is almost identical to mine minus any aftermarket insulation. The butt-dyno tells me it worked, but science will tell me how much it worked.

Yeah, I agree. The windows are always going to be the weak link.
Nick (Crom) blocks his back windows out with Reflectix, correct? Wonder if he has felt a difference in the temp.

He does and has reported lower temps because of it. The front windshield shade I have is essentially the same material as reflectix and works extremely well. The compact foldable versions are cool, but they do very little to keep heat radiation out of your cabin. Might as well throw a t-shirt over your windshield.

Renamed the thread since there have been a few people that have been looking for a headliner removal how-to. Hopefully that should make it easier to find using search or google.

The little black plastic caps on the 3rd Gen access cab headliner are not hinged and do not
contain a 10mm bolt. Robinson Toyota of Jackson TN does not have a body shop so they
referred me to the shop they recommend to customers. The shop they sent me to had no
idea how to remove the headliner on 3rd Gens. When I showed their headliner "Specialist"
the broken clip I repaired, he started to pry the thing apart at the seam - which I quickly stopped. He was unfamiliar with the device and when I showed him where it goes in the headliner, he just scratched his head. While at the Toyota dealership, I ordered two
replacements at $16.62 each. I still do not know how to properly remove the plug without damaging it, so I will wait until this weekend when the two replacements arrive. Then I
won't care if I break the one remaining in the roof. Incidentally, the nomenclature for the
item is "Plug, Assist Grip" and the part no. is: 74617-0C110-C0. It is available from http://www.trdshop.com for $7.65.

more updates for those 3rd Gen owners wanting to take down your headliner. The sunvisors come down the same way the 2nd Gens do. simply turn the small holders near the console counter clockwise to about 10 O'clock then give a gentle tug and they come right out. When
you remove the two screws holding the sunvisor on, gently pull and they too come right out.
There is a small connector for the power to the vanity lights which just unplugs. Above the
rear window are two hangers for coat hangers. DO NOT TWIST THEM! They are similar to
the "Trim Assist Plugs" mentioned earlier. If you study them closely, you will see there is a
seam you can get your fingernail or a small screw driver into. The cover can be popped off
so you can see the spring clip. With the cover off, you can remove the rest of the black
plastic and then press the two ends of the clip together and pull it out. The only things left
to remove are the console (which easily comes off if you pull straight down) with a connector
on the driver's side that is easy to remove. . I left the center light attached to the headliner, which comes out as one unit. The rest is the same as the 2nd Gens. Have fun. . .
