    How's cost of living in Reno/Sparks area? Was supposed to go to Oregon for Navy recruiting but now being told I may be headed to Sparks instead. I'm originally from Sacramento but never really frequented Reno so not too familiar with it. Nicer areas of town to live? Areas to avoid? Thoughts?

    Significantly less than Sacramento if that helps, if your headed to Sparks I prefer the Spanish Springs area there I live just outside of Sparks love it
    Don't go to downtown late without a gun, there are some shitty areas but you'll know when you see them
    But overall better than Commifornia

    Coat of living is definitely better than CA, though it has been rising a lot over the last year with the anticipation of theTesla Gigafactory coming in and running soon.
    I like the sparks/spanish springs area, or over in northwest Reno or south Reno. Basically stay away from living near the core of the city, also I'd stay away from the North valley's. The commuting traffic to and from the North valley's is not good, and I've heard of some theft and break in issues with people that live out there.
    As an example, we rent a 2 bed 2 1/2 bath 1500sf town house with 2 car garage in Sparks for $1150/no.

    Coming from Oklahoma so at least no tornadoes every spring lol...seems about the same as here for COL then. When's that factory supposed to up and running? Wife will be looking for a new job (MBA in accounting).

    The factory is open, I got a warehousing job offer to make batteries there but it's not completely open yet if that makes sense? I think they're just making small things right now can't really clarify I didn't look to much into the job offer
