I was born in so cal and my parents moved up here when I was very young. My whole family lives in so cal and keep trying to get me to move down to LA. HAHAHA. I cant afford to live there. All Californians are welcome here in Nevada except Nancy Pelosi and her friends. They gotta stay in California.

I am born an raised in SoCal Orange County area. I lived in Phoenix for 2 years while I went to school out there. 2 Africa hot summers was enough for me. 8 months of 90+ heat is just too much. Plus Phoenix just sucks. I have also lived in Colorado for a little over 2 years to just check it out. 1 year in Denver(pretty cool city) and a year and a half(2 winters) in a town called Silverthorne(9,000+ft). That was a lot of snow! Shovel, blow, and plow all winter from October to May. So I can say I have tried both of the extremes. I much rather be in the cold with snow then the heat. Reno gives you a good mixture of everything. I'm looking forward to living here.

Yes. Eagle lake was boring. Only trails I found where flat dirt roads with cows on them. Lake was muddy and grassy. Quiet though I did enjoy that. New leafs are good so far. U bolt nuts are retorqued and things with truck seem well. Time for tires though, have plug in tire after I had screw causing a leak. 255/85s coming soon.

Was good. I was at Eagle Lake too...Merrill campground. Fishing was slow because they just had a mayfly hatch but the water is way up. The marina on the south side of the lake has water in it again and all the beaches are under a foot or so of water.

Anyone ever camped up at White Rock Lake? Thinking of heading up there next weekend for a night or two. USFS site still says unreachable but I think most of the snow in the area should be melted by then.

Yeah I think it only has 6 primitive spots right on the lake with fire rings. Looks like 4wd only or hike into the lake which may keep some of the flat landers out.

Hi, just moved to Fernley about a month ago and I happened to stumble across this thread. I'll try to read through the previous pages later so forgive me if it's already constantly mentioned; any frequent meet ups or events for this group?

This place looks close enough to maybe get some people together and meet up there?

I'd be down for a meet up there. I might just go do a recon trip this weekend to see how it is and if it's reachable yet.

Heres the thing. Its summer, work is trying desperately screw me out of enjoying the summer by making me work overtime. I REFUSE to let this happen. I want to camp as often as I can this summer, I want to meet up with as many people as I can and make some friends in the new 4x4 world that I have discovered 20 years late. I have a RTT so I can load it on my truck and literally bounce out of town from work on my Friday, which is currently Tuesday, but dammit I will call in sick on a weekend day if I can meet up with you guys for even one night.

Ive been eyeballing Lake Alpine, I posted a video of a spot that Overland Bound camps at which is on rock along a small creek on Slick Rock trail. I like that spot because it looks like fire hazard is minimal there and I think its only like 2-3 hours from here. I'm down for whatever though. I just need some advance notice to plan the trip out.

I will throw this out there too. I'm off from Aug. 30th to Sept 7th. If anyone is planning a trip for Labor Day, I would be down if it is a group thing. Otherwise I will just be going to Vegas to get drunk, see Linkin Park who I have seen several times already anyway. I would rather enjoy my RTT and a trip to hang out with some cool people.

Slick rock is cool, I think I'm headed there this weekend actually. Been going there and camping for 4 years now, trail has changed a bit over the years. Used to be simple for 3" lift, 33's and sliders, now you need front and rear armor(or just DGAF about stock parts) and skids or else something will likely get damaged. Hwy 4 on the east side has been closed for road work, supposed to have opened back up today though, we'll see. 5 hr drive to slickrock around (all the way down 88, back up 4), or 2 1/2 if 4 is open on the east side

Eric, you should put together something once a year, like an event for the shop. That would be fun!
