Hope everyone had a good weekend. I spent all day cleaning up my truck finally. She is clean inside and out. So happy it was starting to get bad. I got my bed bars back in and am ready to go camping.

Pretty good weekend here. Really wanted to go camping, but still dealing with flood stuff. Had to get the house in order to get contractors in this next week to start repairs. Snuck into Reno to buy a muzzleloader on Saturday which was a bust. I thought I knew what I want, which no one had. But after a little research, which turned into a lot of research I feel like my head is going to explode and I have no idea what I am doing. Suggestions??? Anyhow got out today, just a day trip and decided to take the sxs instead of the 80. Froze our asses off on top of the mountain...
Everyone is talking about getting out, how about I set some dates and plan a route? June 23/24. Leave Fallon Saturday am, 45 minutes east of here on 50 then dirt until sunday afternoon?

Knight disc extreme is a great gun. You can change the breech plug if you want to hunt other states as well.

Tc is very popular and nothing wrong with it however I feel accuracy is better with my knight. I would definitely go 50 caliber and shoot .45\sabots.

Muzzy is a learning curve. I would suggest buying “max muzzleloader” dvd. It will shorten it quite a bit. Bh209 is now legal in Nevada after a long fight with the commission and without a doubt that should be your powder choice. What animal are you going after? That will determine what bullet to get.

The dvd is by max muzzleloader and titled how to maximize your muzzleloader or something like that. The guy is russel Lynch and a VERY smart dude when it comes to shooting accurate front loaders.

I drew 0 tags for Nevada I guess I'll just add another point to the pointless stack of them ... got a buddy who drew a desert bighorn so I'll get to go at least. If anyone wants help scouting I'm happy to get out there :fingerscrossed:

What part of the lake do you live? I’m thinking of burning my California points on x7a or b this year

I'm on the west shore a few miles out of Tahoe city. Both 7a and b are great but B has gotten harder to draw. I put in for 7a archery this year but I've only got 2 points ...

If you do draw either one let me know I've spent my whole life hunting both areas and can definitely get you on some nice bucks

The wife and I both drew bull tags... Hers is 61/71, mine is Jarbidge. Her uncle has an Omega that one of us will be shooting. I have wanted to buy one for a while, this is just the push to actually do it. The three I have whittled it down to is the disc extreme, the triumph, and the pro hunter fx. I thought about the interchangeable barrels, but I don't need a single shot rifle. I read a few bad reviews on the FX mostly QC issues, but most are good. People whine about the full plastic jacket on the knight but that's about it, most everything I have read on the triumph is good. To be honest, I am not sure I am keeping my tag. Everyone I mention that to looks at me like I lost my mind. Maybe I have, but I don't want to half ass either/both of these hunts. I would rather put the time into her hunt, and I can draw another later. idk...

I would pass on the triumph personally. While it’s probably not a bad rifle, triumph isn’t considered the most accurate.

If you are already shooting a tc then there’s something to be said about familiarity and keeping things consistent. You might want to consider packing both guns for a follow up shot.

Knight is far superior imo and the discs aren’t bad at all. I bought like 5,000 and after finding what primer mine liked the most, I loaded up 300 or so. Easy peasy

I drew 3 GREAT tags one year and decided to hunt them all, I ended up passing over a ton of antelope and not filling my tag, killed a meat buck in a unit I could have found a 180+ and killed a 340” bull where I could have killed 360+ so there’s a lot to be said about focusing on one tag.

Point creep has been crazy. I can’t believe it. All states which is good and bad. It’s good because more people are getting into hunting but bad because I’m not drawing any tags!!

I can't wait really hoping either my dad or I draw a sheep tag before he's too old to go. He's all maxed out as well

I want to buy something quality. I found a disc extreme w/ just black syn stock on sale for 520. Which is cheaper than the FX and slightly higher than the triumph.
The wife and I each had 1 point for our bull tags. :anonymous:
