Sounds like a good time. Assuming your camping out of the new trailer?

Heres a few pictures from the trip.. NV never ceases to amaze me. I will say that camping in the middle of absolutely nowhere along with 0 cell service and no one to talk to, I was ready to go home by day 3.

I still feel weird about posting my face out on the open web.....so :anonymous:, also the lope is no record but I was happy to bring one home, lots of work, lots of blown opportunities on big bucks, lots of lessons learned for next time.

Its always a good time going out hunting and not having to be at work. Ha. But I will be using my new to me but inherited from my dad travel trailer for the hunt. Tent camping that time of year in Wyoming can be hit or miss. Some years its t-shirt weather and others its blizzards. We have tent camped in the past for many years. You learn real quick to not touch the inside of the tent in the morning because it will either rain on you or drop a sheet of ice. Definitely looking forward to this trip. Last weekend I picked up my dads suburban and travel trailer from SoCal and drove it up here to start preparing it for the hunt. Put 6 new tires on it so far. Now I just need to seal up some little leaks in the sky lights and windows and it will be good to go. Gas is going to be a killer though. The suburban gets 7.5mpg while towing. :annoyed::spending:. Ohh well.

And it will be weeks if not months until you get the smell of that goat out of you nose, truck, gear, hunting clothes, etc. It just keeps reminding you of such a great hunt you had. No other animal lingers and stays with you as much as antelope do.

Im boiling the head in our kitchen as we speak for a Euro mount. Thats funny you say that... Its not a bad smell, just a unique one. Any go to recipes you like? First time working with Antelope in our house.

Also my earlier post about your new trailer, disregard... somehow got you mixed up with @4Wheelin4Banger who bought the new trailer a couple months back.

Try throwing in some garlic and spices in with the head while boiling it. It makes the house smell a lot better. We used to do it inside and it's always stunk up the house. We now do it outside on a camp stove. Be careful bleaching the head afterwards to get it nice and bright white. Soaking it too long will make it very brittle. Here's a great video on it. https://youtu.be/sOVbnB1KzFo

I've always just pan fried everything with butter and lawlrys garlic salt. Can't go wrong there. But we've also crock potted the shoulders and that turns out great. The rumps make great steaks. Make them like chicken parmesan. Cut them in good sized steaks, pound them out a bit then bread them up. Fry them up in butter. Put some fresh mozzarella cheese on top and smother with marinara sauce. Super good! All the scraps we made into sausage or jerky.

Another thing with the antelope heads. The horns pull off like a sheath. This is after you boil it for sometime. Twist a bit and pull them off. Make sure you pull them off! There is a bunch of tissue up inside that needs to be cleaned out or else it will start rotting and smell awful. Clean as much tissue out as you can and then fill them up with table salt all the way full. Then stick them upright somewhere safe in the garage to dry out completely for a month or so. After they are dried out use a screw driver and get all the hard salt out. You might have to fill them back up with fresh salt to make sure it pulls all the moisture out. Now you can put them back on the head and not have to worry about them rotting or stinking. Use some glue to hold the on. Same with the teeth. You don't want the teeth to keep falling out.

Good tip on the salt... That guy seems like a good dude, he made a video specifically for an antelope skull which is what I followed... He didn't mention anything about salting horns or securing teeth, Just pressure washing horns. I can already feel some of the teeth are loose.

He uses bondo to adhere the horns which I thought was interesting... Also did he just shamelessly let one rip at the end of that video you posted and not edit it out?.... if so I love him even more.

Here is a pic of mine so far

I had a great time wheelin' with Travis, BobbieLynn & the kids.
I didn't see much of your son while wheelin', but your daughter sure was having a blast & I think she likes my Taco's whistle.
Truck did great. LOTS of power. I spent most of my time at 1K to 2.5K RPM. Rarely did I go over 3K RPMs
I did have some problems trying to see where we were going at times. Between the sun & the dust kicked up I often couldn't even see the trail & had to try to blindly mimic Travis' movements. We found some fun spots. Some were fun for both & some were fun for one. Travis got to show off his skinny rig going between shit I didn't want to try. I got to show off my new power going where he couldn't.
I'm looking forward to our next trail run & would love to see more Fernley Wheeler's rigs next time.
P.S. Camera battery died shortly after leaving that hill. Missed the best stuff :(

Here's from when they were trying to tune it with the 5th injector wired wrong. So this is only the stock 4 injectors trying to keep up with the supercharger.
I wasn't there for the final 245 HP 229 Ft/Lb dyno after they got the 5th injector working.
