Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
    Father's Day, indeed.

"DAD!! What would you like to do today?"

"Uhm...organize Man Cave, set up the new DRO on the mini mill, and maybe clean up my workshop."

"Honey, daddy wants to be left the f**k alone for the rest of the day."

    :)

Can someone enlighten me on getting to the old MGL mill and School Bus Canyon (east side of Winnemucca Lake)?

I've been up to MGL once, but I had to traverse the reservation (starting in Nixon). A friend wants to check out the sites this coming weekend, and I'm baffled on the rules for firearms on reservation land. Easiest solution seems to be "avoid the reservation". Just not sure what the best non-reservation route is to those two areas. PM if it's a secret. Hell, PM for a beer-n-greet if you'd rather tell me in person or something. I'm NOT looking for squirrel stuff, just a way to get there and avoid any hassle.

I tried 5 or 6 weeks ago from the Nightingale side, but ended up on the wrong road and losing daylight. Last time the MGL road from the west was washed out pretty bad about 1/2-3/4 mile up from the mill. Bikes can make it, and an ATV probably could to, but not me.

I did the full loop back in November so I can only speak on the road as of then. But you’re right, just north of the mill it was pretty slow going with a ton of huge washouts. Nothing my pretty much stock truck couldn’t make it through.

You can come in from the north on Wild Ass Rd. It will swing you around the north side of Winnemucca Lake and then you’ll just follow that road around where it goes between the lake and the Nightingales.

As far as guns on the res if you go on their website it says only residents can have firearms but I’ve never had an issue and I’ve never heard anyone having an issue just passing through. You’re going to have to drive through it no matter what unless you want to take a few extra hours and go wayyyy around.

These are the coordinates to the road I used to take up there (39.948845, -119.301299)

In the spring there is usually a couple good washouts in the road but usually by this time enough people have been through that they flatten out. Good Idea to carry a pick / pulaski and shovel to soften some of the ledges just in case. You can also go in from the nightingale exit on i-80 via this road (39.986874, -119.163563)

As far as crossing res land with firearms, keep in mind that pretty much anyone going in to Smoke creek / Gerlach / brd / etc area from Reno is going to be crossing Res land to get there. Just keep them put away until you are off their land.

Thanks guys. Going up 447 is sort of different, since it's a highway and the state holds a right-of-way (I think up to 11 feet off to either side). The road in from Nixon is just a dirt road, probably tribal at that. I don't want to piss off the natives and have them confiscate a bunch of stuff. Best I figure I can do is keep stuff in cases, unloaded, and keep a low profile. "Just passin' through."

I'll take a look at the coordinates at home tonight and see. Don't want to burn a ton of extra time getting there, but it's relative to what I used to have to do (6+ hours from the Bay Area).

In March, you could go up past the Mill, but eventually I hit a spot that was completely blasted. A truck with 35's could probably drive back and forth and make a new road, but I was looking at 4 foot ledge on one side, 5 foot on the other. Not gonna happen for a mildly lifted truck on 32's, with no backup support of something goes sideways. "Know your limits", I guess - and I learned mine the hard way many years ago.

The #FurBros and I had a great time camping up at Frenchmans Lake. Went on Thursday and came back yesterday. The Mullet worked great and I already have a change planed. My mobile kitchen worked good. I didn't bring my woodfired pizza oven or my tailgater table this trip because it was just a solo trip. Good food, good times and I met some good people.

He rolled this rock in from deeper water to play with.
I didn't try but being slippery I probably would've needed both hands to pick it up.
He had to adjust his bite a couple of times but he picked it up all the way off the bottom several times.

Decided to build a Polymer80, finished it today. They are based out of Dayton which is sort of neat.

Race gun. The P80s are fun to build. I did one a year ago, still haven’t shot it yet haha.

You guys been to Beefy's on Virginia? Pretty nice little food shack with good beers. Literally the size of two double cabs inside. They'll even make you a float w/ a bottle of beer. Someone at work told me about, I never heard of it until today.

Beefys is good. I get a burger with onion ring, pineapple, Swiss cheese, and bbq sauce. Their milkshakes are legit and the kegs change up pretty often. It is tiny though so I usually get it togo...benefits of living in hipsterville is I can walk or ride the bike there.
