New guy here. I bought a 2006 TRDOR Access Cab in August to do our first Toyota project with CRAWL and TRAILS Magazines. It's the first adventure type truck we've had as a project rig and has been interesting. I'm curious about what other Tacoma owners are doing in the Reno/Sparks area and would like to see what everyone has done. Be kind, I'm on a steep learning curve.

I am going to attempt to shove my sleeping bag into this thing tomorrow. I took it out of the CVT today. The CVT still smells new. LOL.

Awesome, well I'll have to check with fastenal on T nuts for the bed mounts.... we ran out this earlier this week and had ordered more from them a few weeks ago but they were on backorder from the manufacturer apparently. I do believe we have plenty of brackets though so its riding on the T nuts for mounting.

I have some T-nuts. Just need the mounts. What I should do is get some TRD Relentless Edition stickers made. LOL.

I'm really curious about how the locals have built their rigs and who they are using if not doing the work themselves.

Oh you meant shops. The only person I've let have my truck for a bit is Eric. Relentless FTMFW, they're the best! Aryes for alignments.

Theres a wide variety of builds here locally, from basic lifted DD, to decked out and loaded down 'overland' style, to long travel, to SAS crawler rigs. We've got them all around here. Most probably lean more 'overland' though I'd say. We do a fair bit of work on the local Tacomas/4runners/Colorado's etc.

Would love to see the shop and have you show me what you've done. I'm always looking for rigs to feature in both books.

Sounds good. We'd love to show you around some time. We've got a couple rigs of our own that are pretty built, and both are getting quite a few more things done in the next 2 months. Most of what we do is production fab of our armor, but we're enthusiasts at heart so you know theres some cool rigs around and we hit the dirt any time we can.

So I'm heading out on a two week trip this weekend, called Ayres last week and they were booked out for alignments for 10+ days, the guy I spoke to recommended this big o out of all places in sparks for alignments... I called and mentioned my truck had aftermarket control arms and was looking to have an experienced tech to do the alignment...they booked me for 8am the next day and this guy Eric was super knowledgeable he apparently has trained the majority of alignment techs in Reno... he's also a toyota guy. He came and got me when he put my truck on the rack and told me to come watch and he would walk me through everything he was doing, not something I would normally do but he was really cool about it and happy to answer any questions I had. Anyways if Ayres is a no go this guy is definitely knowledgeable. $120 for lifted trucks, $90 for stock.

Looks great. That's what I'd go with if we could fit in a smaller tent. I've been happy with their xcover except it gets so effing hot when closed up in the summer that if you store the ladder in it you need gloves to hold the ladder when deploying it. Their customer service wasn't great in my experience either which doesn't give me much hope if I have a warranty issue.

The xcover is massive when open which is great for our family and it's only 120lbs so it shouldn't destroy the shell (still might check with @RelentlessFab about a custom cage of some sort inside the shell to help carry the weight).
