Not sure if it’s COVID related and more people are going out camping but I’m getting pretty tired of all the inconsiderate fucks I’m encountering this summer camping. I don’t go into the mountains to listen to people’s shitty music blaring across a lake until 2am. Or to listen to dirt bikes revving all night. Seems like nowhere is safe anymore, all my good spots that used to be chill and quiet with low traffic are all blown out.

Not to mention an increase in trash left behind, campfires that aren’t fully drowned out, and people driving off trail wherever the fuck they please.

ugh man... we haven't been camping yet this summer, but that's been a big fear of mine, that there's nothing else for people to do. we were planning to go later this month to our favorite spot...

I almost wouldn't bother. Just trying to get out for some plinking in the morning or after work is a disaster. There are more people out on bikes, trails and camping spots than I've ever seen. Most of them don't know proper etiquette either, which means if you do find a spot, prepare for everyone's bs

maybe we'll bite the bullet and take a couple days off to go mid-week. that should weed a lot of that out.

Mid week definitely helps. I usually only do things on Monday's (i have them off) if I want to do anything at all. Weekends are no go. Good luck to you if you go

Ive had this issue too, some side x side trails going right through plinking spots with natural backstops that have been my go to spots for years.
No thought went into the trail, and its clearly where people shoot often.

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
It's only gonna get worse as Idiot CA Governor and Idiot NV Governor start re-closing things.

I was up at Ice House on a search this past Saturday. Things were packed at 0630 and by the time I left at 1630, it was crazier. Took a different way out from the reservoir, and it was insane no matter where I looked. If you want solitude, you're going to have to load your pack and hike in. My plan is to start taking mid-week trips to see if it helps. I just want to do a little fishing - I don't even care if they aren't biting.

If I do overnights, I'll probably burrow the truck as far into a shitty logging road as I can, find a flat spot, and sack out. Half tempted to knock a dead tree over into the trail behind me, and winch it out of the way in the morning. Or maybe find some MCL/SPI/GP land that's not being actively worked, and hide out there. If you're not burning down their inventory or in their way, the loggers really don't give a shit if you boondock.

Gotta disagree with you on that. Shit is getting closed back down because people are selfish assholes.

Shit is getting closed down because of an inevitable spike. If it's all shut down, we'll prolong the key words above "inevitable spike." However, the spike will happen regardless of human intervention, because that is how math works.

So, one side can blame the government, the other side can blame the "selfish assholes" but ultimately, the increase is occurring because the virus follows a logarithmic function, that is how the natural log works. No matter what particulars you get into regarding the subject, the outcome remains the same. A certain amount of people will get this disease, another subsection of that group will die from this disease.

Shutting things down just gives us time to sort out our lives and not overwhelm hospitals. Wearing a mask, keeping distance, and washing your hands decreases transmission, but as long as that rate of transmission is above 1.00, this virus will continue to propagate throughout the population.

    Everyone's politics be damned.

Anyone want to take bets that a state tax is purposed next legislative session?

If that’s too politic-y then I’ll delete. Just curious.

Don't get me started. A few weeks ago I was coming around a corner, in wide open desert sage terrain, and saw a dust cloud coming my way. I slowed down to about 5 MPH. Some dipshit in a Can Am almost puts it under my rig. I saw it coming and there was a part of me that wanted to just drive right over that damn Can Am. I didn't and he got a pretty good earful. After he got his rig reversed I asked him where he was from. LA. Yeah, well go the hell home.

    TLDR: You're not alone.

Quite right, as this is not the correct platform for technical specifications regarding mathematical modeling and stochastic analysis (which coincidentally was my thesis at UNR).

Generalizations allow the ability to point out both sides are talking politics low-key while not taking a side, aka: staying unbiased while maintaining integrity.

But basically, lands are being used by those who don't usually frequent public lands due to <insert political views here> and we all have to deal with it regardless of the "why."

So, the missing data exists if you so choose to seek it out, just not the correct venue for the details.

Agree 100% that this has become politicized and it's bullshit.

My beef is with people that aren't taking it seriously. I just spent 2 weeks in the hospital and lost organs that I shouldn't have had to lose because all the testing took so damn long. I went to the ER in December and doctors confirmed my cancer was back mid February. It took 5 months to get in for surgery and during that time the cancer was given a free pass to grow and cause additional damage that will impact me for the rest of my life so seeing posts calling politicians idiots for shutting things down hits a nerve with me.
