Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
Fire lookouts are awesome. I took my daughter to one a few years ago, just to see what it was all about -- the name escapes me now, but I think it was off Highway 4. The old guy on duty was nice and invited us up to look around, showed us the Osborne Fire Finder (slick old tech that still does the job), all the landmarks he uses, heard some 'war' stories, and chatted for a while. I got the impression the job gets really lonely, even if you like solitude to begin with. In that regard, I think the staff likes the occasional polite visitor, someone to talk to, and mostly seeing people who are actually interested in the service they provide.

    Just to expand...

I think the Commander is a good fit for NVs terrain for a mix of cruising along, hauling the dogs, hunting, camping, etc... it does haul ass relatively and it can do some more technical stuff but of course speed and technical are where the maverick shine while they everything else is a compromise, IMO. The Commander was in a class of its own until the General came out. If you want a more utility/ranch/hunting bench seat kind of unit, I think the defenders are fantastic but the rangers are a good option too. I think Honda Yamaha and Kawi have options that kind of span the gap from Commander/General to Defender/Ranger. IMO thats what the Pioneer/Wolverine/Teryx are, but maybe a case could be made that they're sort of competitors of the Commander/General.

Also, at this point I think all of the major brands have decent aftermarket support. Polaris has probably the most but theres not really any shortage of stuff out there for Can-Ams either. If you find something else you like, you may want to look into available accessories, depending on if you're interested in adding anything.

Oh and just FYI, you can get some of the utility side by sides with full cabs and AC, and with most of the options out there you can get heaters as well.

Just as an aside, if I were looking for a 4 seater I'd probably be buying a Kawi or Honda.

    Interesting thread.

Ammo is very hard to come by. You need a ton of luck to score ammo at cabelas for any common calibers. Some local shops are charging 30 bucks for a box of 50 9mm target ammo. Nuts... great time to sell old guns laying around though haha.

So far, no findy-find a Commander DPS. I think RPS has a tarted up XT (2020), but no 2021's yet. Seems like slim pickins, even expanding the search out into eastern NV and CA.

Went so Sportman's yesterday AM to get some bullet sinkers and swivels, because the kids wanted to go 'fishing' (translation: they apparently wanted dad to catch fish, and then run over to look at them when landed).

There were a few boxes of 7 Rem Mag, a box of 30-06, and a few oddballs here and there. Not even the premium-expensive 5.56/223 was on the shelves. I don't think I've ever seen it quite this bad, even when Obummer was a shoe-in to win. They did have plenty of shotgun ammo, but I don't really need more of that.

Nuts, I say, just nuts. I'm even having a hard time finding components online (they seem to arrive and then vanish, quickly).

So I did what any normal American should do - I bought more PMAGs for the AR's.

I tow this thing around when I'm heading out now. These rzr 800s are stupid cheap on the second hand market. I'll probably upgrade in a couple years but it is great for now.

You may check in with Sonoma cycle in winnemucca, when I was in the market they had lots in stock and very competitive pricing

From what Ive seen this year campers and side by sides are in huge demand as well as guns and ammo so you may have to look far and wide. Nothing in Twin, St George, Elko, Roseville, Boise. Wow

For ammo in Reno, Ive found reno guns and range to be the best spot since they deal with the most volume and are able to get orders in. They had boxes of 1000 rounds of 556 for $500. Checked today, completely gone, Id guess around 30-50 cases originally.

Did a Rubicon day trip in my Can Am yesterday. Staged at Tahoe and left the truck at 9:30am, ran the whole trail to Loon by 1:00, ate lunch at Loon and then back to the truck by 5:30. Little bit of trail traffic but trail was surprisingly quiet overall, guess a lot have been deterred by the day use only status right now(some people still out camping though) FD98E53F-1E3C-42EA-A467-9164B04420C7.jpg 640A4DEB-68AC-4DA1-AB29-2003C9AD9665.jpg 10D24BD1-047A-4BD8-AA12-7B7178207249.jpg 999FAF73-8C32-4047-825E-9A9E46DCB516.jpg 893531EE-BF34-4260-8ECC-765DF1230A41.jpg

wtf size tires are on that thing? 35's? With that short wheelbase and weight, that thing will go almost anywhere.

LOL I was wondering if anyone would ask that. I actually have 2 sets for it, the ones on it in the pictures are 36's, my other set in the garage are 35s.

Couple that with 22" front suspension travel and 24" rear, locked diffs front and rear, and about 200hp and its a beast that does go most anywhere.

Alltizer in mound house is good. Call them with dimensions first to be sure your bumpers will fit in their incinerator.

Any of you Reno folk that have been driving around lately -- how's the fall colors? Is it day trip leaf peeping time? All the trees in my subdivision are still pretty green. Saw some pics from out near Elko on another forum, and it looks like fall already hit like a ton of bricks.
