We packed up the t4r about an hour ago waiting on the evacuation notice. Looks like its pushing south now which is good for us but shitty for someone else.

    If anyone needs anything, holler.

Just got back from ferrying the GF's grandparents. Two engines at the end of their street, fire was close, but it looks like they're on it.

Yep. Been following the coverage on multiple spots and the radio. Sounds like they're doing a good job, but we need the rain to get here and wind to die down. Hope the grandparents are well and their home stays safe.

They lost a house to fire in CA back in the day. They were decidedly not happy that they had to leave.

I believe it. Not sure what I'd do in the situation, but leaving wouldn't be voluntary. So far it seems they're keeping most of the homes safe and from spreading down the canyons.

Their neighbor stayed by a bit and sprayed their houses with water before he took off. Good dude. My GF went up to the house and had them drive their two cars down to the savemart. (They're both like 90 and shouldn't be driving). I swung by and picked up GFs mom and rendezvoused and then we spent the last couple hours bring cars up to mom's house. Eventful Tuesday evening.

I live up in redrock. They've got the big rigs stacked on the side of 395S where the wind blows across stead. It's been blowing 40-60 at my house all day long

Shit man. Hope the fire dept has enough manpower to save homes. It's a shitty thing to go through but at least you where close and able to help out.

Looks like they're on it. When I rolled up to the store, they were staging trucks from Cali that came in to help. The wind is killer though, it blew it across one of our main roads right into a housing development.

I'm all too familiar with it. On Feb 18th 2018 at about 2PM the Pleasant Fire started about 7 miles from my house. I happened to be wheeling up in the Sierra and saw a huge plume by about 230. I hauled ass home and that plume got bigger and bigger. It ran that 7 miles in 3 hours and we got a mandatory evac at 5PM.

I packed up my wife's rig and sent her to a friends house. I stayed behind. I turned on my lawn sprinklers then got on the roof with a camping chair and garden hose. The Sheriff Dept came by and I let them know I would leave if and when I felt my life was in danger. They took a look at my rig and made a note of my refusal to vacate. For the next 5 hours I watched that thing run another 5 miles. At 10PM the winds dies down and it started to rain lightly. That's the only thing that stopped that fire from crossing 6 and going all the way to the White Mountains.

We where super lucky the wind was running true north to south. That kept it in a river bottom for the whole time. The slightest shift could have been really bad.

No fun is it? I got to be under 3 evac advisories this summer for the Peavine / Cold Springs fires. But I'm in my 30's and pretty self sufficient, so I hung around to keep an eye on things like you did. Packed and ready to go, luckily it never made it close enough.

Starting to rain pretty good up in Stead. Anybody confirm it's raining down where the fire is?

Not sure, but according to an update, they've been able to stop the "forward progress" of the fire.

Its been drizzling on and off here at our place. We are 2 miles from the burn area. Not currently raining but it does seem like they really are getting things under control, no more wind either.

Fuck. I was just checking up on the fire you guys are dealing with(PineHaven Fire) when I came across a Cal Fire feed for the Mountain View Fire burning east of Walker. 5000 acres, 0 containment, 1 fatality and multiple structures destroyed. 395 is closed at Bridgeport.

No rain here and I'm about where exorcist is, maybe a little closer. My buddy's house was saved, the one across from him torched. Be thankful for what you have, always. And I ain't talking material possessions. Cheers team.
